Spargel on 9

  4.8 – 370 reviews   • German restaurant

Spargel is German for asparagus and Germans go crazy over it we hope you will as well! Germany’s culinary map is extremely regional; however, the ingredients are not. The South is known for their amazing roasts, but also for a very lite cuisine influenced by Italy. The North is known for their bountiful Seafood dishes from the northern Sea but is also impacted by the Scandinavian Countries. To the West, inspirations from classic French cuisine are apparent, while to the East the hearty cooking of Poland provides a strong present. You may recognize many ingredients, but the preparation and presentation however will be pure German.

Absolutely loved the entire experience. Friendly helpful staff, beautiful comfortable booths, German music playing and delicious authentic German food.
Great choice of beer & wine. No typical bread basket here, fresh warm pretzel rolls with soft butter drizzled with honey. We couldn’t resist! Some appetizers we’d never heard of and absolutely loved, a kielbasa salad with sweet pickles, shredded swiss, pickled red peppers eaten with soft rye bresd. Cream of Chanterelle soup. The Bavarian sampler platter for 2 ( more like 4!) had EVERYTHING. Potato pancakes (yum!), spaetzle, sauerbraten, brats, schnitzel, et al!
Desserts we took to go along with enough leftovers for another complete dinner for 2. Absolutely recommend & we will be back!

10/10; if you like German food, do not pass this place up. And if you haven’t tried it, you will absolutely find something you love. We had an epic meal, with next level service. Authentic flavors, made to order, with amazing beer and wine, right from Germany. I cannot wait to stop back!

My parents and I were visiting Lake George this summer and ended up at Spargel twice. The service was wonderful, you’re greeted immediately upon walking in and their servers take great care of you. You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu, everything we tried is delicious! I’m especially a fan of their pretzels, the rabbit dish, and the apple strudel. The one day we went, there was even a guy playing accordion. We will definitely be back next time we’re in the area!

I grew up eating amazing, homemade german food, so I am a bit of a tough critic. We went during restaurant week. I ate off the special menu. I had goulash app that was pretty tasty. My husband had the pretzels with beer cheese (for me I would have like the pretzels hot. FYI they’re not salted, which I expected but the husband wasn’t used to). He had the wutscht platte and loved everything about it. I stole his sauerkraut and took the left overs home. I had the sauerbraten (one of my all time favorite dishes). For the average person this would be 5stars. I did substitute potatoes pancakes, just because that’s how I am used to having them. They were perfectly golden and crispy. We both had a couple of seasonal beers and shared the apple strudel dessert. The staff was VERY welcoming and attentive. They do their best to make it an authentic, inviting space (hard to transform an Outback). Everything was clean and cozy. I am definitely interested in going back to try some other dishes.

So excited to taste my food, I dug in before I took a photo.

Earlier in the summer I had noticed Spargel on 9 while driving around Queensbury but did not have a chance to dine there. Returned to the area later in the summer and not only ate there once but twice in one week because it was exceptional. The menu has something for everyone: traditional German, wild game, steaks, chicken piccata, etc. The beers on tap are from Germany. The first time eating there, I had chanterelle soup and 3 wild sausage (boar, elk, and rabbit), and strudel. The second time I had goulash soup and then brats made in house. The service was excellent. I cannot wait to go back next year. Also, they have a beer club and you get your own mug for the year.

We’ve been coming in for a few years now and love it. A few months ago we came in during their 2nd “birthday” celebration and were treated to a complimentary hors d’oeuvres which were great. Awesome service, unique and tasty meals, always a great time!

Quiet night at restaurant. Plenty of seating. Waiter was also bartender but there was no issues or delays with service. Two warm pretzels with hot honey whipped butter brought out while we decided on appetizer. Very good and not too filling. Tried the potato pancakes with apple sauce as appetizer. Crispy on outside and tender inside. Light and airy. Only complaint is a bit oily from deep frying but did not deter flavor. Both of us had the Rindfleisch Gulash, beef out of this world tender. Sauce delicious and mixing in the spatzle was heavenly. The red cabbage was surprising in that it was not sour like the jar version you get in a supermarket. This was fresh, you could pick out a pleasant cabbage flavor as well as spices. Brought home leftovers. Saved room for dessert. Ricotta and pistachio cheesecake with whip cream and fruit compote on side. Wow! The apple strudel was huge. Puff pastry shell and stuffed with apples and just enough cinnamon to please any palate.

I was hesitant to eat at a German restaurant as my family makes pretty good German food; however, Spargel on 9 did not disappoint. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the veal Wienerschnitzel and Pfannkuchen. The gemischte Salat was tasty. I loved the Spargelcremesuppe. I had to order an Apfelsaftschorle. We topped our meal off with the Apfelstrudel. We had so much food; we brought half home as another meal. Additionally, I ordered the Bratwurst plate (with substituted Spätzle) to freeze and take home to my parents in Ell Paso.
