Its a pretty good korean/chinese food place. Portions were good and the price was decent. Best to bring the family for all the family size portions they serve. They also have a cream jjampong which surprisingly was delicous and I would recommend anyone who likes creamy style noodles a try atleast once. Will definitely be coming back often to try all the other dishes since the first time wowed me.

great spot for good korean-chinese classic dishes! i’ve been here twice and never been disappointed. the portions are pretty good for the price and we didn’t need to wait too long for fresh hot food. the fried dumplings are super crispy and pairs great with the dipping sauce. absolute best combo is the jjambong & jjajangmyeon! the tang su yuk is super crispy with the perfect sweet & sour sauce. i do wish that the pork was salted just a little bit other than that everything is consistently good. highly recommend coming here for classic korean chinese comfort food.

I recently learned about this soup and decided to try it at II Poom Hyang, and I’m genuinely so glad I did. From start to finish, the experience felt thoughtful and well executed. I ordered the Sam Sun Jjamppong, and the broth was incredibly flavorful, rich, comforting, and fresh without feeling heavy. Every spoonful tasted balanced, which really stood out.
The noodles were a highlight for me. Perfect texture, not overcooked, and they held onto the broth beautifully. What I really appreciated, though, was the helpful note they included on the box, reminding you to pour hot water over the noodles and remove them after 30 seconds. That small detail made such a difference and showed how much care they put into making sure the dish is enjoyed the way it’s meant to be. It was honestly so appreciated.
My husband enjoyed the soup as well, and I already know he’ll absolutely love their beef brisket jjamppong next time. This is one of those meals that feels intentional, comforting, flavorful, and made with care. It introduced me to something new, and it’s definitely something we’ll be coming back for.

I tried the new cold Jjamppong, and I really enjoyed the balanced flavor! It was served in a nicely sized bowl, which made it feel just right. The only thing is that the noodles became a bit hard in the cold broth. If they were cooked just a little more, it would be perfect. Also, it might be helpful to have scissors to cut the noodles when you order this dish.

Conveniently located near Lowe’s and Burlington in Fairfax, this Korean-style Chinese restaurant serves good Jjajangmyeon (Black bean noodles) and Tangsuyook (Fried pork with sweet sauce) that are generously proportioned. The decor is a bit old, but it is a good restaurant to visit when you crave these dishes.

I visited again for Korean-Chinese lunch after some time, and I noticed a significant improvement in the food quality. The food we ordered was fantastic, and the house-made noodles had a perfect texture. The decor is still a bit dated but remains clean and tidy, and the prices were very reasonable for the portions and quality of each dish.

Il Poom Hyang offers delicious Korean food with generous portions that make it a great value. The flavors were authentic and satisfying. My favorite was the seafood noodles.
However, the service was quite slow, likely due to being understaffed. While the staff were friendly, it was clear they were stretched thin, which affected the overall pace of the meal.
The quality of the food makes it worth a visit, but be prepared for a bit of a wait, especially during busy times.

This place seems to get a lot of mixed reviews, but for the record my first time eating here was quite enjoyable. I got the Sichuan gan jajang while both of my friends got Jjampong, with a plate of Khan Pung Sal (sweet and spicy fried chicken). Everything was good, the jjampong noodles in particular are consistent and have a nice broth. The fried chicken was sufficiently crispy and didn’t have too much batter. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants good Korean-Chinese food.
My only real “complaint” was that the atmosphere was, let’s say, typical of your classic Asian family style restaurant. Albeit such a thing is quite familiar to me.
EDIT: came here again on 10/21 and ordered the same things. Consistent with my last visit. Since then I have come to this restaurant many times with family and friends and we have all enjoyed it.

We had the jjajjangmyeon and tangsuyuk, and they tasted remarkably authentic — just like what you’d find in Korea. The portions were huge; we left completely full with leftover tangsuyuk to take home. The atmosphere reminded me of a neighborhood Chinese restaurant in Korea. While it isn’t fancy, both the food and the vibe define “comfort” in every sense of the word.

It’s a Korean Chinese restaurant and Jjamppong is its specialty; it offers many variations. It was very busy during our visit and it may have contributed to fried dumplings not well cooked.
While beef Jjamppong was good, the creamy version was a miss. It was too watery. The mil-nangmyun, not authentic (choice of noodle) but it was good in its own ways.

Since they changed the bowls for the Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), the food cools down too quickly and the noodles get incredibly soggy.
