The Good:
Really nice and varied menu—everything looked tempting. The coffee was great, and the food I tried was flavorful and well-prepared. Prices were also very reasonable, which is always a plus.

The Not-So-Good:
The seating consists of high stools, which didn’t feel very inviting for a longer stay. I had hoped to sit and read a bit, but it wasn’t the most comfortable setup. Also, I felt like the layout could be improved to make better use of the space.

This is the second time I’ve come to this place. I was late for my son’s school. I didn’t do breakfast, and I bought milkshakes. The first time I bought a cheesecake, the strawberries were already spoiled, and I didn’t realize the prices of the milkshakes. Today I bought only the milkshake, and like last time, I asked for banana and strawberries. It is a small size, and they charged me $3.50 for adding a little banana to the milkshake. In total, this small milkshake costs $6.40. They want to pay the rent for these expensive milkshakes. I understand that they charge $0.50 or $1.00 for adding a second fruit, but $3.50 is too much; this is the last time I come here.

Imagine the rest of the menu expecting big prices.

Hortencia’s Cafe is an absolute gem! The food was incredibly delicious and surprisingly inexpensive for the quality—you can really taste the care that goes into every dish. What made the experience even better was the owner himself coming out to chat with us. He shared stories about New York and what it was like growing up in the neighborhood, and it gave the whole visit such a warm, personal touch.
If you’re looking for great food, great prices, and genuinely great people, Hortencia’s is the place to go. Highly recommend!

What a beautiful place! We ordered Philly cheese steak sandwich and got tiramisu to go. It was great! Tiramisu is perfect, not too sweet. Philly cheese is delicious! Atmosphere is very welcoming and warming. We are so glad this place opened in our area! Easy entry with a stroller! Great for me as a mom!
Thank you!

My children and myself had an amazing experience at this eatery! The service was top-notch—friendly and attentive staff who really made us feel welcome. The place was spotless, which added to the overall enjoyable atmosphere. The fried Oreos were out of this world, and the lemon bars were a perfect balance of sweet and tangy. It’s also a great spot to bring kids, with a warm, family-friendly environment. I highly recommend stopping by for a treat—you won’t be disappointed!

If there’s one thing I love it’s a good cup of coffee. Yet it’s surprisingly difficult to find a decent cup of coffee. Well, this cute little spot just opened on Park Ave and has the perfect cup of coffee that is strong yet sweet. Plus they have some tasty desserts and gourmet chocolate, no need to go into the City for a sweet treat.
