Great option at the airport for a sit-down meal. I hadn’t thought about traveling on Ash Wednesday (no meat), but there were several vegetarian options here. I ended up getting the corn tamales plate with rice and beans. The tamales were good and came with a cream sauce on top. The rice and beans were okay. Definitely a good choice if you’re looking for a full meal.

Due to adverse weather in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metro area, I was delayed, but re-booked and re-routed on a later American Airlines flight ✈️.. I needed to eat, so among the options in Terminal B at Tucson, I went with El Charro..
I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive, as I tried the downtown location two nights earlier and didn’t walk away overly impressed.. That review will be done later..
That said, Matthew, serving at the bar, made my visit to this airport location quite grand!!
From a pair of modified Cadillac margaritas (Patron Reposado versus the Añejo) and quite decadent grilled fish tacos, my visit to the airport El Charro was far more enjoyable than my visit two days earlier to the OG location..
The margaritas were smooth, and as singles, well-poured.. They were balanced, refreshing, and the half-salt and half-Tajin rimmed glasses were perfect!!
The grilled fish tacos were amply portioned and flavorful.. I did add a dash of original Cholula to both, but I suspect they would have held their own, un-touched..
All in all, a great and reasonably priced experience for a restaurant bar and eatery.. 10 out of 10 recommend!!

An real treat for an airport eatery. I’ve been to Tucson three times and I make a point of flying out just after lunch so I can eat here. Love the tamale plates.

Way overpriced but it’s an airport restaraunt so they gotcha. Food was ok, small servings but tasty. The burger i ordered could have used iceberg lettuce but they put the green wilted type. Fries were good but not much taste. My wife ordered the chimichanga and it was good but small serving. The waitress seemed to busy to really be attentive as we had to walk our cups to the bar tender to refill our sweet tea and lemonade. The waitress said they had military discount but I didn’t see that when we got the bill. All in all it is like one of the only places to have lunch at this end of the airport. No wait for a table was a plus.
Update, my wife and I both got heartburn from the food and upset stomach, downgrading this to 2 stars.

Absolutely amazing food! I understand why it is the oldest Mexican restaurant in the US. Service was excellent, thank you Omar!

Good place for some food and drinks at Tucson airport. Breakfast menu is limited to 4 core entrees, but there were all good options. My breakfast burrito was great and came with two salsa options. Free coke refill to go was also very nice! For lunch the enchiladas were basic but good and the Bloody Mary was tasty.

The food we ordered was delicious, except for the mushy vegetables served with the 2 dishes we ordered- tropical fish with corn and mango salsa and stuffed tamale chicken breast. Both the red and green salsa that came with the chips and salsa were delicious, the green had a great kick to it! The charro beans were perfectly cooked and flavorful! The service was excellent and the ambience of the restaurant area was enjoyable. Loved the Spanish-language music and the decor both in and outside.

This is the only restaurant worth a salt in the Tucson airport. My flight was delayed almost 2 hours and I sat at the bar here and had decent Mexican food and very nice cocktails. The waitress was incredible! She really made the wait tolerable.
