I love Woody’s BBQ. It is one of the most cleanest restaurants I have yet seen here in Kendall, especially for a bbq restaurant. I enjoy watching the game and eating delicious baby back ribs. Its very kid friendly and has a great ambiance. I assume that most of the patrons that rate it 3 stars or less, were disappointed because they didn’t get enough to eat, or didn’t get their expired coupon validated. I highly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy good authentic BBQ.

Woody’s is one of our favorite restaurants for a lot of great reasons. The staff is always very courteous and attentive, they get to know your favorites and are also quick to recommend other items that you may enjoy. Our server, Johnny, was fun and friendly. The food is outstanding, the baby back ribs are our favorite but the wings and burgers are also amazing. We definitely recommend Woody’s as a fun family restaurant.

I grew up eating Woody’s at the original location in Jacksonville, and I’ve been coming here for a couple of years. I’m continually amazed that this place stays in business. It’s always empty, I don’t think I’ve ever seen more than 3 occupied tables. As for the food quality, I’ve always considered Woody’s (the brand) to be lower-quality. But this particular one is a bit worse than that. I had a rack of ribs that tasted old, and the quantity of food does not merit the $17 price. Shivers in Homestead easily has them beat on quality and quantity in terms of the baby-back ribs. But what really threw me off, and what caused me to write this review, was the fried okra. The person I was dining with said they tasted “raw” – her words, not mine. I didn’t think they were raw, but I did find them to be soaked with grease. This isn’t the first time I’ve had a problem with their fried food. Other fried dishes that I’ve ordered in the past came out undercooked and soaked with too much grease, so I concluded a long time ago that these guys have the temperature on their frier set too low. As a long-time semi-professional cook, believe me when I say that correctly operating a frier is one of the easiest aspects of cooking and serving bbq. These guys are without excuse, and because of the low quality and distance from US1, I don’t think i’ll be back anytime soon.

p.s. If you want good BBQ, some of my favorite joints in SoFL are:
Shivers in Homestead
Blue Willys in Pompano Beach
Hickory Sticks in Pompano Beach
and honorable mention goes to:
Sparkys Roadside BBQ in Downtown Miami, although it’s owned by a couple of yankees who do things a bit… strangely, to say the least.

Ok here we go I want to start out by saying that my wife and I travel and dine a lot and have written both very favorable and very negative reviews on multiple site. Its very nice to have a west Miami establishment that does not cater to the rice and beans. I love latin food but not every day. Woodys is a small family spot very simple décor but with good food. We have dined here twice. I read the reviews about this place that complained about slow service but we were seated right away and only waited a min or so for service. If you are in a rush Mcdonalds is down the street or subway for a five dollar sub for deli meat. Our waitress Idalia (I think) was knowledgable and friendly. I ordered the sampler my wide the combo. Very good Q tonight. smoked chicken was shockingly moist brisket was the best since San Antonio , the prok was as everywhere else outside of the Carolina’s. Ribs were perfect I actually did not need any sauce . My southern wife loved the okra and tomatoes. This is a go to place for us in West Kendall. Any place can be a hit or miss ,needless to say my wife and I will return when the desire strikes us with out hesitation .

We just moved her from PA where we used to go to Woody’s where
we used to enjoy the food. So we couldn’t wait to try it here. DON”T waste your time or money. We were there last night Sat. night the place was empty then one couple came in as we were siting down. The waiter/host/cook came to take our order, the appetizer came to our table and we still did not get our drinks. there was no waiter/host/cook around my husband got tired of waiting for his beer after 20 mins after the appetizer. He got up and went to look for someone, he went into the kitchen door and he was told to get out. he told the waiter/host/cook (its all the same person) that all he want is the drinks. she came out and brought the drinks then right after that our food came out. My sweet potato was cold and old. the baked beans looked and tasted like they were sitting for a long while and they just added more bbq sauce to them.
then we thought well we get coffee and dessert. (there is a neon sign on the window that says they have coffee) we were told they don’t have coffee, so we got the bread pudding. It was the old. it was sour to the point it was making my tongue burn. Then the icing on the cake was….we had (or still have) a gift card we were told they don’t take gift card.
I will NEVER recommend this place and I will burn the gift card before giving it to someone else .. Needles to say we did not leave a tip. ((which is the first time we ever done this) had to give it one star because i couldn’t post without doing so. but they don’t deserve any stars.

I was just west of this location and noticed this BBQ place in one of the first shopping centers from the west. This was the first time at Woody’s BBQ. The food was ok but extremely pricy. Ordered the Texas brisket and was very surprised at the small portion/cost ($13.99). I took the photo after taking one slice.

Excellent! Today’s visit was not our first, but the exceptional service today prompted me to leave this comment. The server was a true delight, making us feel welcome and very informative and attentive to all our questions and needs. I think we may be ordering catering for the weekend!

This place is terrible… the food seems as though it was taken from a TV Dinner… We spoke to management and left without taking a 2nd bite after we were served our food.

How this place is still open is beyond me.

Visited October 2013.
