Very unexpected authentic Thai restaurant that didn’t disappoint. Server was extremely helpful with guiding our heat levels. We will definitely come back to try more of the menu.

23 people went toSAAP for my mother’s 90th birthday and Steve the owner who trained with my father at Spaulding High school! Treated us like royalty, great food and excellent service by his wife and him! We all ate family style and my wife,my mom and I all tried every one of the dishes!! Mom unfortunately lives in Concord NH, still wants to go back every year! 15 dishes for $300 what a deal!! Not a complaint in the group, AMAZING for family of chefs and good cooks! Thanks again for a wonderful birthday party, Steve and your wife! Sa WA Dii, KA ! So for the bad Thai language and for taking so long to write about SAAP ! Rick Wheeler. I wish I didn’t live in SC because I would be there at least once a week!!!!!

We unexpectedly were able to walk in today for lunch. (Reservations are highly recommended. ) We shared a Massaman curry and Som Tum Thai salad. Both were ordered as 3 spiciness. The salad was very spicy, while the curry was perfect. The dining is casual. The service was very good. A variety of Vermont beers from Switchback, Foley Brothers and Burlington Beer Co.

Drove 2 hours each way to dine at Saap, I was not disappointed and I will be back (soon).
I don’t write reviews, but the food here was extraordinary and I felt moved to do so. I lived in Thailand 30+ years ago, greatly enjoyed the cuisine then, and have searched ever since for an authentic replication of that experience. I didn’t think I would find it in Central Vermont, but I have. It only took three decades!
I took my wife and aunt for lunch to Saap today and every single dish that came from the kitchen was wonderful with just the right amount of complexity and subtleness that marks excellent Thai food. Brava! Not an uninteresting or Americanized version in sight! Where the restaurant is able to obtain their fresh Thai ingredients is a mystery but one I am happy to leave unsolved.
Yes, we had reservations and the restaurant was quiet so the service bar was not high, but we enjoyed the interaction with the owner who was acting as our waiter. Since this was my guests first real Thai experience, we all shared the dishes and as the food was prepared, it came out in no preordained order which we were fine with.
Go, you will be glad you did!

Fully enjoyed our lunch at SAAP, brought back many memories from our 3 1/2 years living in Thailand.
Atmosphere reminded us of the many family Thai Restaurants found in Northern Thailand.
The restaurant does have a small staff or at least when we were there. All great to chat with but it’s a relaxed environment so don’t come here for a rushed meal, come to enjoy the food.
Reservations are needed for weekends and in general so they can plan accordingly. Open for lunch and dinner but does close from 2-4:30.
Now for the food. It was very good- we had the spring rolls, chicken wings, Khao Soi Chicken, and Pad Kra Pao… flavors were very authentic.
Considering this is in the middle of Vermont and getting authentic thai is definitely a delight.

The food is phenomenal. The veggie spring rolls were very crispy and good. The Panang curry was really well seasoned with fresh vegetables which were cooked to perfection. The Pad See ew chewy noodles were well seasoned with great mouth feel. The mango sticky rice dessert was great too. The service was a bit slow. The servings a bit small. Tried to order another dish but it was going to be over 40 minutes for it to come out. I would order more than you think you want as soon as you get there.

We booked weeks in advance and waited nearly an hour for our food to arrive at the table. During that time we didn’t receive water refills and couldn’t get the waiter’s attention.
When I asked to order an additional dish to take home for my fiancé, I was told there is “no takeout,” with no explanation. This was disappointing!
The food itself was bland for the price point ($30–50). Overall, the experience felt inattentive and unwelcoming. From my previous interactions with this place there seems to be a patten of unfriendly staff. I wouldn’t recommend this place and would choose other options instead ( thai kitchen in milton is fantastic!!)

Best Thai food I have eaten!!! The service is amazing. Small, comfortable setting decorated from the owners homeland.

We asked our server to recommend dishes that could be made gluten free and vegetarian, and the resulting meal was truly amazing! We got the shredded mango salad, pad see ew, and panang curry. Each dish was so bright and layered in flavor!! All the vegetables were so fresh, and the herbs even came from the chef’s garden! My favorite was certainly the mango salad, and my sister loved the curry. The pad see ew was exceptional as well, with chewy rice noodles and perfectly cooked tofu! And mango sticky rice is always a must order. Make your reservation now!

Wow, we have been trying to get a resy here for awhile and finally it happened and we were delighted with fresh, authentic Thai cuisine- delicious salad, pork, scallop, and shrimp dishes all with fresh veggies. The sticky rice – mango – warm coconut milk was a great finale! Steve, the owner, is humble and grateful for the rave reviews and full house once again. We’ll be back soon!
