Stopped in while in town and as a KC girl, I can honestly say I was impressed. It’s legit KC-style BBQ! Not only that- the meat was smoked that morning and they make their sides, dry rubs, and the delicious sweet and spicy KC BBQ sauce from scratch! They even stuff their own sausage here. Amazing food, tender meat. Don’t think twice- you have to try it out. Also, I heard they will be serving beer soon!

Happened to stop at Woodburn Shanks for some BBQ before a show on Tuesday evening. Though they were out of a few meats (brisket, ribs), the staff recommended a BBQ plate with half chicken, sausage and burnt ends. We had generous portions and the food was delicious. Really enjoyed the chicken. For sides, the fries were crispy and well seasoned. The brisket chili was on the salty side for me. All in all, I’d love to come back and try the other meats.

My husband and I were visiting from out of town and stopped here. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. It seemed like they all genuinely enjoyed their job. We got a ton of food for a really good price. The ribs were some of the best I’ve ever had – they were super flavorful and incredibly tender. I’d also recommend the cheesy corn. Everything was delicious!

Best BBQ in Morgantown! New location but same great BBQ that’s been around for the last decade. No pickles yet and they sell out of items during the dinner rush but that the BBQ business. Appears they are not all the way moved in, I expect they will do nothing but improve in their new location!

Stopped by 6pm on a Friday. You never know what is left at a BBQ joint, but they had almost everything in stock. Ordered two brisket meals. Brisket was delicious as usual. Onion rings was also good. I like their variety of sauces and you can help yourself to any of them you choose. Definitely my favorite BBQ place in the local area. Order was ready to go really fast and staff was very friendly and informative.

Overall the meat quality is very good. When you add the Carolina sauce to the pulled pork it hits. The brisket while cooked very well and the texture was good, I found it slightly under seasoned as I prefer my brisket not sauced. If you add the spicy habanero to it, it is improved. The baked beans have great great depth of flavor and are cooked well as the texture is not mush like most. The onion rings were clearly seasoned post frying and were very crispy, which I like.

Unfortunately a Hipster joint.
Staff was decently polite (the staffs kindness is the only thing keeping this review above a 1 star), but:
“Open faced sandwich”, “cocktails” and spicy everything, doesn’t make an establishment good. The sandwiches aren’t “a la carte”, it’s just a sandwich (and I’m literate in French, but this verbiage just comes off as pretentious regarding the local community). The pulled pork was bland (compensated for by all the spicy condiments), the mac and cheese was ok but over peppered, and the slaw was basically run of the mill with no flavour. All the sauces available were spicy, they said they were out of all non spicy sauce. The bread served with the platter (open faced sandwich) was inedible because it was too flimsy to hold the contents. One staff member was kind enough to give me a regular bun upon request. The place was basically dead during prime lunch hours. Unfortunately it’s not worth the price for the food; I didn’t even have the drive to finish the meal.

Honestly this place should be avoided until they get their act together and realize they are running a barbecue restaurant and not a wine bar.

Sorry.

Guys, if you haven’t tried it, go! It exceeded my expectations on all fronts! I’ve had Texas bbq, in Texas. And this was better! We walked in and had our food within 5-7 minutes. We watched them pull the meats apart and place them on our platters. It was falling apart and delicious. We tried a couple bbq sauces and they were all good. The cheese corn did not disappoint this cheese lover, and the mac and cheese had just enough heat. It is affordable to top it all off!

We got lucky and stumbled upon this jewel while on a road trip! This is a MUST stop for anyone passing through Morgantown. EVERYTHING we ordered was delicious! The meat is slow cooked and melt-in-your mouth tender. All the sauces are family recipes and made from scratch in house. The mac&cheese was creamy and flavorful! The fries were perfectly crispy and delightfully seasoned. The staff was very friendly and helpful- you can tell they love the place and enjoy being there. And to top it’s all off, it’s currently a BYOB establishment, so you can enjoy your favorite brew while chowing down on some great BBQ!
For those of you looking at the photo – we were starving and dug in before we could get a good pic. Sorry!

After several days in WV finding subpar food options we stopped here on a whim. It’s in an old ice cream shop and has outdoor seating but not indoor. The pic I posted doesn’t look like anything amazing but the taste was great! I asked to try the coleslaw because usually I hate “creamy” style coleslaw but this was really good and homemade! Not heavy and gross like you normally get. The baked beans are homemade and good as well. My husband and I split the three meat platter. The brisket was the best and the BBQ sauce options were really good! Definitely worth stopping!
