Upon receiving my delivery, I discovered that the food was not cooked thoroughly. I contacted the delivery service, DoorDash, and spoke with an employee named Mel. He informed me that I should return to the store for a replacement. I explained that the fish was not fully cooked, as it lacked the characteristic crispiness of fried fish. Additionally, the bottom of the box was excessively greasy. The coleslaw was provided in a condiment container, which was priced at $0.97. Based on this experience, I am unlikely to return to DoorDash or order from them again. They must address these issues promptly.

I recently visited the Hip-Hop Fish & Chicken location on Old Central Avenue in Capitol Heights, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. I initially ordered on Door Dash. I couldn’t believe what was delivered. I was appalled. I regret ordering from that spot.
The food did not meet basic expectations. The shrimp order was advertised as 20 shrimp, but what I received were tiny, baby-sized shrimp that looked nothing like the pictures on the menu. There were also old crumbs in the box, and the overall portion was noticeably small. The fish had no seasoning, no flavor, and was tough to chew. Even the bread was hard and stale—almost like toast, but not intentionally toasted.
The sides were equally poor. The coleslaw serving was unbelievably small, more like a portion you would give a toddler, not an adult. It also had a sour smell and tasted spoiled, which raises serious concerns about freshness and food safety. Overall, it was clear the food was not freshly cooked.
When we took the food back to address the issues, the customer service made the experience worse. There was only one person working—handling orders, cooking, and dealing with customers—and he was rude and dismissive. Instead of correcting the order or offering a reasonable solution, he simply handed back the same food with an excessive amount of seasoning dumped on top. There was no apology, no professionalism, and no effort to resolve the situation.
Unfortunately, the quality of the food and the service reflect poorly on this location. The area feels neglected, and this visit left me with the impression that customer satisfaction is not a priority. This was a terrible experience overall, and I would not recommend this location to anyone looking for fresh, quality food or good customer service.
It’s a shame that certain businesses come into African-American neighborhoods but don’t respect their consumers. Stop supporting these type of businesses. They don’t care about the food they serve us. Their good reviews are all fake.

This place was originally another terrible foreign chicken spot. Same owners but now it’s call Hip Hop Fish and Chicken. Still terrible! DO NOT EAT HERE!!! The food is not edible. It is terrible. I don’t feel like they know how to cook properly. The food presentation horrible. I did takeout. I wish I would have checked my food before I left the store. The customer service can use some improvement. The lobby was fairly clean but they have all these menus, advertisements on the window so it was hard to really see a good look at the back. Probably designed that way for a reason. I don’t see why anyone would eat hip hop fish and chicken, especially at this location. Parking is terrible:. This place should be closed down.
