We stopped at the Purple Hull for a quick lunch on our way home from Augusta. Nice homestyle cooking and the staff was very friendly. I enjoyed their meatloaf along with mashed potatoes & gravy. My beautiful wife also had the meatloaf with cabbage and okra & tomatoes. She liked the sides but didn’t like the meatloaf as much as I did.

This place is a GEM! I love the mom-and-pop feel. Locally run by family members. Warm and friendly service and more importantly the food is delicious. Deserts are so yummy! Not too sweet very creamy. Will definitely be back.

The Purple Bull is in an unassuming building that is easy to drive past and miss. Don’t miss it! The food here is delicious! Some of the best southern food I have had in a long time. The sweet potato souffle was perfect, not too sweet, not to spiced but just right. And the pan fried pork chops were amazing! Very well spiced and not dry at all. The okra.was perfectly cooked, the jalapeño corn bread was great! My son had the cat fish and it was some of the best I have had in Augusta. Over all an amazing restaurant!!

Good southern food with not so much southern hospitality. I’ve had the beef tips, the cube steak and the pot roast and it has all been very good. The ordering and the waitress situation is interesting. A smile wouldn’t hurt. It doesn’t stop me from going though, just like everyone else.

Went back today and had fried pork chops, okra and jalapeño mac n cheese. Pork chops were deliciously tender and the Jalapeño mac n cheese was so good.

Everyone is always very sweet. The food, however, has gone down hill from when we started coming. Arrived this evening at 7:00 for dinner. My husband and daughter ordered and paid for mashed potatoes. After we sat down they informed us they were out. My husband and I got the chicken and rice. Both of ours were cool. Not cold, but cool. I also had a sweet potato that was hard and had to use a knife to cut it. I just scraped the top and the edges and did not eat the rest. The cabbage was ok but I couldn’t salt it enough. The hush puppies were good. My daughter ate all of her meatloaf but left half of her green beans and mac n cheese. She’s not one to leave any food behind so that should tell you something. Total price was $65, which, even if it were all very good, would be a little high for what we got.

The first time the fried chicken was very good. I only went bc a friend referred me. However today I ordered wings. The employee that took my order didn’t ask of i wanted fries or other options. My order cane with plan wings and barbecue sauce on the side. I was like is thus what I ordered. She says oh I can put tge sauce on there. I’m like yea you didn’t ask. I assumed they cane dipped in a special made sauce. Never again will I get this again. I payed $20 for something that was not good.

Thank You Purple Hull!!! Our Father’s Day Lunch /Dinner. Was AWESOME!!! My first time enjoying this hidden gem. Much appreciated the excellent customer service and the yummy food. I had chicken and dumplings , kids had fried chicken and husband had pot roast. It was well worth the money. And yummy. 4 meals a large sweet tea and 2 desserts. Under $ 50 not included cash tip. A unheard of deal for a country cooking home cooked meal!!! Thank you Purple Hull keep up the good work !!!

Not saying anything bad about the restaurant but we stopped for dinner at a prime time which you would think the food would be fresh basically was not up to par with cost of the food also I do realize everyone has different taste but macaroni should have different cheese than squash casserole, beef tips basically had no flavor or maybe we just caught them at bad time

The food is SUPERB!! Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious, with good portions. It was very busy, but the wait staff did an excellent job of taking care of everyone. The dessert selection was impressive and delicious as well.
