My favorite bar in Charleston – the lights make this place so vibey. Perfect for a little date night or a catch up with friends. I love the cheese and/or veggie flatbread and the Cava is perfect.

I had breakfast for dinner! Yay! The service was fast and friendly and the food was delish! I don’t know what kind of bread they use for toast but it was great. The bacon was better than anything I have had in a very ling time. Love their coffee, too. You are missing out if you are not eating at The ROQ! It turns our that they have a lively and eclectic nightclub scene, too.

Live music, free salsa lessons, the most courteous staff, delicious drinks and food. I often play here with my band, Friendly Fire. MJ and company provide a wonderful ambience at the ROQ. It is always a pleasure to hang out and play here.

Great atmosphere and staff! They are changing the culture of Charleston for the better. Salsa on Thursdays and great local music on the weekends. A must stop! Tell Brenna the bartender I said hi and ask about her budding music career!

The free salsa dance lessons every Thursday are amazing and a great way to meet people. You don’t need a partner because the leads and follows rotate frequently, and everyone is supportive of people new to dancing.

Continuing my post divorce bar review series, I decided to try out the ROQ. It is located in the basement of the Quarrier Street diner. The previous place was called Timothys, where I took my ex-wife for our second date where she would tell me she definitely didn’t want kids and then do an absolute 180 three years later. The first thing I noticed as I walked through the door were the lights. They reminded me of my bachelor party in Vegas where I would obey my then-wife’s wishes to not look at another woman, and meanwhile she’s spending half of her dowry in the champagne room at the strip club back home. The second thing I noticed was how attractive everybody was. I’m naturally uncomfortable around attractive people, likely because of a condition my ex-wife would commonly refer to as “fugly”. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, unlike my step family. The drinks were reasonably priced, as well. Overall, I would cry here again.
