The meat is routinely undercooked. Chicken that’s pale and rubbery like it never finished cooking. Steak that’s raw in the center and cold in spots. This isn’t preference — this is basic food safety being ignored. I’ve had two-day-old McDonald’s that was hotter, better cooked, and more enjoyable than what’s served here, and that’s honestly humiliating for a restaurant charging real money.
The sides are just as pathetic. The rice is crunchy, every time, like whoever makes it doesn’t understand how cooking works. The vegetables are soggy, over-salted, and lifeless, tasting like they’ve been sitting around forever. Nothing is fresh, nothing is balanced, nothing feels intentional.
What really makes this place a joke is the complete lack of consistency and care. It feels like nobody is held accountable and nobody gives a damn what goes out the door. This isn’t “fast casual” — it’s careless slop dressed up as a meal.
Corporate needs to seriously reevaluate this location, because it’s damaging the brand. If this is the standard Genjigo is okay with, that’s embarrassing. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone — not even as a last resort. Eat literally anywhere else
I was greeted by a very polite and professional young woman who took my order. I wish I remembered her name.
I got a chicken with bean sprouts and rice and the other order was with steak or some red meat. The food was good, the portions were smaller than expected.
The facility looked pretty clean. The bathroom was clean as well.
I do recommend you try it at least once.
I originally asked because I would have been ok if she said “hey we have orders we’re wrapping up and we’ve started closing”. The one in grove city welcomes anyone with open arms before closing, I just came here because I was close. Now I know to just order ahead from GC
I manage a retail store and I would be blown away if any of my employees addressed the customer the way she was addressing me.
Just thought the owner should know! Thanks
How and why is this place still open? I want my $13 back.
The Pickerington Genjigo is easily the worst I’ve ever been to. Consistently takes 15+ minutes to get your bowl after you order it (despite 5 workers and 3 total customers in the store?) and all the food is literally prepared on the line. Imagine Piada or Chipotle taking that long. Insane.
After getting my food I take a look in the bag and it’s barely even full? Raised prices and smaller portions. I read through the other recent Google reviews and that seems to be a common issue. Genjigo responds saying “first price increase since 2022 and the portions are the same ” it’s patronizing and pathetic. You serve rice, chicken, and vegetables. It’s not that hard to have a good portion of any of that, and none of it is expensive. Clearly this Genjigo needs a retraining of its staff on portion sizes, and perhaps an entire purge of their management. Clearly failing at a systemic level.
Do better.
