My boyfriend and I can’t wait to come back to El Capitan!! We were met with the kindest most wonderful owner who made us feel so welcome. I ordered the chicken tamales which I absolutely loved, and my boyfriend got carne asada tacos that he loved as well.
It is always so nice to be in the presence of nice people who share their love for quality in every dish.

So, this is hopefully a brief update to my past stellar reviews.
We recently ordered the family pack special, which went up a few dollars and now does that include the churos. If that wasn’t bad enough, the order of beans and spanish rice was about half of what it has been on all our past orders. Not good items to cut corners on.
I don’t want to stop ordering this great special, as it is a go-to dinner for us, but it needs to stay special.

This evening we decided to order in from a local Mexican restaurant, El Capitan, as they were promoting this special feast deal. It includes a huge delicious salad, a giant bag of tortillas chips, two tubs of a tasty & hot green and red salsas, four green enchiladas, four red enchiladas, four carnitas tacos, a boatload of Spanish rice, and very excellent traditional refried beans. All this for just $35. Incredibly yummy at a fantastic value!! They also had everything ready for pickup in less than 15 minutes. If you eat there they have a cool Mexican-style fun environment.

I had my mothers celebration of life here and the coordinator Emma was so kind and understanding. Everyone loved the food and thought it was a great experience. The waiters were fast and kind. I had an amazing experience here and I would highly recommend this place for dinner and for throwing event such as memorial services or birthday parties. I had an amazing experience and so did all the guess they came. They said the outside area was beautiful.

I would have given 2 stars if it was not for the Tamale and enchiladas combo. We went there for Mother’s Day and ordered sizzling fajitas combinations $29.99, which is supposed to be sizzling. It wasn’t sizzling and when I asked the waiter, he said food was hot, but it wasn’t. It was watery and became cold in few minutes. When they asked us how was the food, I told them it was cold, nothing was done. I would not go again. Also, they were not offering happy hours on Sunday due to Mother’s Day.

After having surgery it was our first Thanksgiving dinner ordering Thanksgiving dinner from a restaurant. We were pleased. The turkey in its entirety with all the sides. We were so pleased. The bird looked beautiful and tasted delicious. We recommend and will do it again. Thank you Emma for making it special.

Marginal Mexican food that also offers an Italian menu; odd. Patio is nicer than the food. Staff was good. If looking for atmosphere and not too focused on excellent Mexican, then this place is good.

Seated on the lonely inside patio without asking. Chicken tacos were meh, chips stale-ish, had to hunt for salt. Service slow, zero warmth, waited forever for the check. Perfectly average, nothing more.

I’m plant-based/vegan and have been going here for awhile but was previously disappointed at the meat/dairy free options (like the tostada). However, that’s changed! I’ve always enjoyed their margaritas. But tonight I tried potato tacos (no cheese) and vegetarian tamales (no cheese) off the happy hour menu and OMG! So yummy! We added a side of beans and rice and got some guac too. The guac was amazing. I love the staff here and the ambiance is great. If you’re a sports fan, the TVs are perfect, too. I like the indoor seating for cold nights but in the warmer months the patio is so pretty. They have an in between area that is my favorite area to sit. Part indoor part outdoor. Best of both! (FYI, for my young kids the two potato tacos were more than enough to eat. For my teen, the added beans and rice made the meal a perfect size. We will definitely be back!
