Social Profile:

I was born in Texas and have worked in the Columbus restaurant scene for the last 20 years I have always felt drawn to BBQ throughout my career. I’ve always been fascinated at how the best meals I’ve made are not from expensive cuts of meat but rather created by quality meats cooked low and slow with lots of patience. This is why at Hank’s, we specialize in Central Texas BBQ.

The Mac n cheese was dry. The burnt end baked beans had great flavor, but I kept having to take hard pieces of bay leaf out of my mouth. Pulled pork was OK. Nothing spectacular for the price. I would choose a different BBQ place next time in Columbus.

“Yankees are in for good meal”
Said from the mouth of a souther born and breed.
From the actual said Yankee. “The Mac and cheese was cheesy , sticky and a lot. The meat was smoked perfectly and the potatoes were pretty dang good!”
It’s worth a visit alone for the friendly bartender or bingo on Sundays. We will be going back!

The low review is solely for the quality of the food. the staff were polite and nice enough. The bottles of sauce were so dried you couldn’t squirt them, as though they had never been cleaned before. The brisket was overly dry, but was for sure the most tolerable portion of the items. The ‘baked beans’ are not at all. they are more akin to a bean soup or stew, and were underwhelming. the mac and cheese was not even Kraft box grade. it was uncoated, under cooked, and the pasta itself lacked any kind of flavor. it was actually like chewing warm firm distilled water chunks. The pulled pork, well, I didn’t bother taking it home to feed to the animals. we can just leave it at that. and that would be my general recommendation, leave them right there. alone. and find yourself somewhere that is more palatable, edible, seasoned and flavored. they do exist here. it was bad enough I paid around $20 for a plate of food I left on their table uneaten.

One side note of worth: their french fries are actually pretty decent, however, don’t bother getting them with the poutine starter. The gravy the used is an affront to the tastebuds. and the cheese curds were a little weird, but not to the point of being bad. Just not worth it to order as a dish. if you want fries, go for that alone.

Kyle & Dan were hustling on this FB Saturday afternoon. Kyle so kindly put the Cubs game on for me. ❤️ Sadly the Brewers are winning I had the loaded corn cake and a side of Mac & cheese with leftovers for tomorrow

Heather has always been outstanding as a bartender and server here at Hank’s BBQ in Clintonville. ❤️

We ordered take-out without ordering ahead and the wait was about 5 minutes. Overall I would recommend and I would come back. We got 2 of the 2 meat plates and 1 pound of brisket and paid $72. At about $24/pp for good smoked meat I’d say not bad. The white bbq sauce is a winner.

Brisket: 4/5 Very nice smoky flavor with nice bark. Some pieces were very fatty which was not great.
Chicken (leg quarter): 4/5 Again very nice smoky flavor and extremely well seasoned! The pieces we got were a little one the older side, not necessarily the freshest piece of smoked meat.
Corn bread: 5/5 HIGHLY recommend. It was so good we had to go back to get a couple more pieces. Tasted absolutely delicious.
French fries: 5/5 they gave what a fry should give and they were hot and fresh
Mac and cheese: 1/5 very underwhelming. I am not a person that thinks garlic powder belongs in Mac and cheese so this is not my cup of tea

My daughter and I ate at Hank’s for lunch yesterday (12/30) and our server was Khalil. He was friendly, knowledgeable and a great server. The meals were great – I loved my brisket (getting the fatty side the next time) and my daughter wings were so juicy they were dripping. We’ve lived in OV for 4 years and this is the first time we’ve eaten there. It won’t be the last that’s for sure! Happy New Year!

Solid barbecue joint with a good atmosphere. I got the brisket nachos but think I would opt for something else next time as I’ve had better elsewhere. Mac and cheese looked great but could use more flavor. The cheese curds were super light and not a hit with our friend group. Drinks specials were good but they pour light with lots of ice. I think this is a 3/5 for me based on food but service was exceptional so we will be back for another try

Well first it’s really hard to find true barbecue in central Ohio especially if you’ve been to Memphis Texas St Louis and you’ve had all the great barbecue in the United States in North Carolina. Hanks is good and it might be as good as you’re going to get in central Ohio their briskets were juicy and tender and it smells like a barbecue spot I’ve always said I don’t go into barbecue spots if I can’t smell it down the street now they said the loaded corn bread was supposed to be really dynamite in my opinion it was just okay it didn’t have enough corn taste to it to really make me stop and say like this is great but it’s just okay please remember I’m eating it all the best barbecue locations in the United States so for someone who might not have they might really like it however the brisket was good I will be going back to try more but they’re brisket sandwich and brisket tacos or really tasty service was just okay we sat outside and we had to wait some time before someone came and served as even after we told him we’re going to be sitting outside but I’m still going to try him again. The pitmaster cocktail is worthy of a try. Don’t get the burnt ends. They put it in beans. It totally takes the taste of the burnt ends away. It makes the bark soggy. Horrible. That’s not true BBQ. Sorry.

The very best BBQ in the city, there is not a close second to Hank’s. We visit this place 20 plus times a year with our family of four and another family of 4.

The atmosphere is simple but comfortable. Great drink selection.

Unfortunately, the service has gone downhill over the past several months. Service used to be friendly, attentive, and engaging. They have had some turnover in the staff. The staff now doesn’t care about good service. It’s seems like they just don’t care. Again it’s a small place that doesn’t get too busy. They just don’t pay attention to you and are just not good servers. Too bad, hope it turns around.

Even with the very poor service, we will keep going back. The brisket, Ribs and Birria tacos are exceptional! Please don’t let change.
