Gatto’s is ranked 7 out of 8 on the best Columbus tavern style pizza list but they are definitely better than others on the list. The dough was crunchy and delicious. The toppings were good quality and the pizza was cooked very nicely. I also must say that the house salad with homemade dressing was excellent. Gatto’s is one of the best Columbus style Tavern pizzas, no doubt about it.

Fascinating little spot off of I-74 in Columbus OH. Close to the State Fairgrounds. The aroma when you pull up is enough to force you in the door. Staff is quick to take your order and easy to ask for help. The taste is amazing. The Italian sausage slider is much larger than a slider. It was plenty of food in itself. The taste is fresh. The sandwich is served hot! The salad had a great mixture to it. I’ll definitely hit this place up again.

I have been three or four time to Gatto’s- recommended by a coworker. They are cool for the most part. I gave them one star on service because I ordered a Ham and Cheese sub with my pizza, they gave me Italian. I came two weeks later and mentioned it and they apologized. Cool. Ordered the same pizza and Ham and Cheese sub. I peeked inside the sub and it looked like it was correct. Got home and it was Italian. Not sure if this was intentional or not but it definitely felt like it. I will not be back for a while- if at all.

As far as Columbus style pizza goes, this takes the cake, or should I say PIE, right? Oh man, Ha! Cuz it’s a pizza pie. Get it? Whoooooo! I crack me up. Any hoo, iIt has both a thin cracker like crust and a million pepperoni flavored cups of grease just the way us central o hesians like it. Sliced into squares, (the intuitive way to slice any round object) for beit DND switching your children or partygoers by letting them know there’s enough for everyone to have 3 slices each!
I almost went 4 stars because I was neither served by a cat, nor did the have pizza for a cat. I was reluctant to ask for cat as a topping, as the young lady behind the counter seemed very polite and I didn’t want to cause a scandal. I mean ,I suppose you could order one with no cheese or sauce with anchovies but that seems like a lot to ask and I’m not sure it’s a cost effective delivery system for the canned fishes that the cat is probably just going to pick off and eat separately, anyway.
Tldr: Pizza is on point. Name is misleading

Since they moved from their original home on High Street over to Indianola, Gatto’s has been consistently crushing it every time I have been there.
It’s easily one of the Top 5 best pizzas in Columbus and I would stack their crust up against anyone in the business. If you love classic, tavern-style pizza made fresh from quality ingredients and the real deal pepperoni toppings, this is the joint for you.
Quite simply it doesn’t get much better than this. Start with the salad and homemade dressing and get yourself a couple of pies. Their distinctive sausage is unbelievable and is made in-house. Decorated with a fascinating array of old pictures detailing their history, this new location is indeed very special.
God bless you Gatto’s pizza!

Decided to try Gatto’s. There were a few patrons there when we arrived. We sat at the counter, but there were plenty of tables. The one thing you will notice from pics—they have no beer glasses! So my husband drank from a plastic tumbler. But I had wine, and they had wine glasses. The girl at the counter was the server and the cashier, and she was too young to serve alcohol, so she had to call one of the cooks from the back to get us drinks.
After sitting there for a while, we couldn’t help but notice the amount of carry out and delivery orders they do—there was always someone in line waiting for an order.
I ordered a veggie sub and my husband ordered a pepperoni pizza—pepperoni under the cheese. It was a traditional Columbus-style pizza, and he liked it a lot! My sun was loaded with veg and was served on a sub roll from Audino’s Italian Bakery—very good. It was a light bread with a crunchy crust—nice accompaniment to my veggies. Would have loved to order a salad, but they only came in pint and quart deli containers—meant for to go orders. I could had spilled it onto a paper plate, but didn’t want that.
I would like to go back to try wings, spaghetti, lasagna. But will probably get it to go, because I’d prefer not to eat on paper plates.

A quality pie with great crust and flavor. Good service. Quite possibly a new top 10 contender. Easily competes with JTs, Territas, sextons and the likes. Wings are oven baked and not a highlight for me.

Finally! A pizza place that will actually bake it well done when asked and it’s actually well done! Perfectly crunchy crust. Generous amount of toppings. No chewy fatty bacon. Great prices too, especially when they send out coupons in the mail. New go-to.

Definitely would not come back here. Crust is bland, ingredients taste cheap. Sausage tastes a little like meatloaf. Hardly any cheese when I asked for extra. Garlic bread was pretty pathetic.
