I really can’t express enough how wonderful it is to dine at Michael A’s. The atmosphere and service are lovely. The food and drink are all delicious!
I’ve had a number of dishes over several visits. They are each pictured and I will list and review them.

* Eggplant Parmesan – crispy, tender eggplant cooked perfectly and paired with pasta. The special addition of a pesto gremolata makes this dish extra rememberable.

* Pesto Fusilli – nothing silli about this dish. The pesto sauce is delicious. And the fried lemon pieces were a pleasant and unique surprise!

*Shrimp Bisque – my absolute favorite thing I’ve had at Michael A’s. Believe me, they do pasta great but that’s no real surprise. Finding out that Michael A’s also makes an incredible Shrimp Bisque -wow! It’s velvety and creamy and jam packed with rich, savory flavor and succulent shrimp. A real must try.

* Fried Zucchini -this shareable, small plate is a crowd pleaser. Small is a gross understatement. This sizeable, small plate was irresistible. This lightly battered and fried zucchini was addictive, similar to when you’re enjoying a potato chip – you can’t seem to stop crunching into one.

* Wood Fired Meatballs – another delectable bite. Flavorful, savory and saucy. Can’t go wrong with these.

* Wedding Soup – delicious, comforting broth, robust flavor, lots of spinach and egg throughout and tiny, homemade meatballs complete it for one tasty spoonful after another.

* Classic Pasta with Michael A’s Classic Alfredo – Michael A’s has been around for decades but revamped in recent years, under new ownership. Some things may have changed but not the classic sauce recipes. And that is for one, very good reason – when something isn’t broke, it simply does not need to be fixed. Excellent sauce. Always going to deliver.

* ‘Nduja Rigatoni – rich, decadent dish. Hearty, robust flavor and generous portions can be a bit heavy, but that’s why take-home containers exist. Finish what you couldn’t for lunch the next day!

* Spumoni Sundae – This dessert was so much fun! It is like an Italian tin roof sundae. I definitely recommend giving it a try.

Traveled into town to take our 98 year young father to dinner. We had a reservation with another restaurant but their menu is limited on Sunday, so we passed Michael As and decided to give it a try! It was amazing. Great setting, menu and atmosphere. Wedding soup was authentic and my eggplant was prepared with a unique blend of beans and greens. Our server was fantastic with dad and their desert menu was truly amazing. Will be a new favorite for us!

Unfortunately very underwhelmed with Michael A’s. 6:30pm reservation and we had not even ordered apps until 7:20pm. Our waitress was very sweet, but appeared to be the only person working the entire floor. Not her fault. Apps: Caesar fries are awesome. Whipped ricotta, stuffed peppers were just okay. Few folks had a wedge salad that they said was very tasty, but incredibly spicy (?) to the point that they had trouble finishing it. Never heard of a wedge salad being spicy. There were 10 of us so we tried an array of things. Pizzas are fine, we got the ndouja and the pepperoni. My wife and I got the cacio e pepe filet and the chicken parm and split everything. Filet was tiny and weirdly fatty for a filet. Chicken parm was uneventful and bland. Everything felt like it needed a pinch of salt. Unfortunately the majority of our group felt the same– nothing really blew us away. It wouldn’t be so bad if the prices weren’t what they were. Incredibly expensive for what you get.

**Michael A’s Review**

Years ago, Michael’s Italian Restaurant was renowned for its exceptional food, great value, and generous portion sizes. While I never experienced it during its heyday, my wife and family were regulars before it closed. Fast forward to 2024, and my wife and I decided to give it a try.

We prepared by reviewing the menu beforehand, ensuring we knew what to expect. We ordered the classic pasta with meat sauce and chicken marsala, one of which included wedding soup while the other was à la carte. The meal was accompanied by bread and a delightful dipping oil. The wine and beer selections were impressive but on the pricier side.

Overall, this restaurant offers a casual yet upscale atmosphere, appealing to an upper-middle-class or upper-class clientele, free from any unruly elements. However, our experience was a one-time visit, as we found the value lacking. The pasta was priced at $24, and the small portion of wedding soup cost $8. It felt like they tried to reinvent the traditional recipe rather than sticking with the classic version—good, but not exceptional.

While the wine selections were noteworthy, at $10 a glass, the costs quickly added up. If you’re curious, you might enjoy your visit, but don’t expect it to resemble the restaurant it once was. In our opinion, it falls short of being a good value.

This food was fabulous. The portions were huge and the marunara sauce was to die for. We were in baseball.attire and not dressed up but they happily sat us and fed us untill we were ready to burst at the seams! Delicious and very friendly wait staff

So deeply mid. We arrived to a very empty restaurant and were told all the tables were reserved, but they could shove us in the back. Nobody ever arrived to fill those tables so I’m not sure if that was even necessary. Anyways we ordered and waited a solid 25 minutes for our basic pasta and pizza, despite being the only table there. It was very unexciting- cheesey gnocci sure, and decent homemade pasta but the pizza was lacking. So much sauce, so little cheese or toppings. Maybe this is the best Oakmont got to share, but I surely wouldn’t recommend this to others. Deeply overpriced for the ingredients, extremely dim outside, and the service didn’t make up for everything lacking.

Nice atmosphere with good food and service. We ordered the neopolitan pizza & house salads, both were great! Bread was served with a butter & oil. Would definitely eat here again.

Food was very good, however couldn’t even tell you our servers name. Completely ignored our table and didn’t give us the complimentary bread that every table surrounding us was given. We felt unimportant, on Valentines Day, mind you.

Exceptional meal. Menu changes slightly to have new options. Reservations highly recommended, especially if you can’t do a flight of steps. There is seating downstairs. Food is wonderful.
