Reviews
The young lady was friendly, and helped me navigate with my questions of the salads.
My food came fast.
The salads were large, and delicious. The little bread that came with it was soft and flavorful.
The dining area was clean, and I was impressed on the standard here compared to Escondido.
I guess i will visit this location again. It was worth it.
When I turned to find a table to wait for my food, I found that more than 90% of the tables in the restaurant were taken by “plug-in” people on their laptops and tablets. They were mostly young people, so I’m assuming they were students doing homework or research, which is all fine except there was practically nowhere to sit for customers of the restaurant. I noticed that all of these young people used the same practice to maintain the illusion of “I’m a customer” by slowly nibbling on a cookie, or milking a cup of coffee or iced tea. I assume this is how they monopolize these tables for hours while not actually spending any additional money. It’s the same kind of thing you’ll find at Starbucks and other similar restaurants.
Panera needs to find a way to deal with this issue before it alienates the last of their loyal customers. I know that Starbucks has taken to removing all of the outlets from their lobby areas to discourage this kind of behavior and it seems to have been successful, at least in the local Starbucks that I frequent. I understand that students need a place to study and read but I don’t think it’s the seating area of restaurants or coffee shops that are trying to stay open by serving new and more customers.
Given the fact that Panera Bread is currently facing significant challenges including revenue decline, it needs to find a solution to this issue.
LOVE this place! Get the app and order from your phone – saves time for sure!
The place is very clean and adequately staffed.
They have a good selection of Coffee and good number of Souffle. Unlike other Panera Bread, you have a better chance to get your choice of Souffle past 10:30am here.
Other than that, it is conveniently located in San Marcos with ample parking.
