Doing a live review as I sit here. Walked in and felt this may be the most authentic Vietnamese restaurant I’ll experience in New Hampshire. The faint smell of incense gave me a good feeling that this would be as authentic as I can get. There was no one to greet us at the door, after about 30 seconds someone emerged from the back to seat us. The restaurant is cold and we must keep our jackets on in order to be comfortable. Upon reading the menu, every dish is Vietnamese. No pad Thai or lo mein, no fusion, just true Viet cuisine. They even offer Bun Bo Hue, a hangover staple of my family. I have an even better feeling about the food
Started the meal with the calamari. It comes in more of a croquet shape rather than rings and tentacles like you might normally see. The flavor was good, I dont love the breading and the sweet chili sauce on the side is a nice compliment. I do don’t feel the price is a little high for the serving size.
Order. The bo kho, which is essentially a Vietnamese beef stew. The broth was very thin, light and Rich. I generally prefer the version that’s been thickened up a little bit, but all the right flavors were there. Not as spiced and a little bit sweeter than I’d like it, but they hit the nail on the head and it is delicious. I’m a little bit salty because they did not have the baguette that you would typically serve with the soup. They only had noodles, when ordering this dish. I always opt for egg noodles. My criticism for the dish is that I only had three chunks of meat, and it does not appear beef shank or flank. Steak was used to prepare the dish as you would most commonly do. I believe, but can’t be certain. Certain the beef was a type of Chuck that was cooked a little bit under the tenderness that you look for in bo kho. The meat should be tender that it essentially falls apart with the squeeze of your fingers, this meat had a little bit of a bounce to it when squeezed and more chew than I would like. Order to to go that I have high hopes for. But this is as close to the real thing as I have experienced in New Hampshire

Updated Review
For a late dinner today, I decided to try the Bun Bo Hue ($14.95).
Unfortunately, it barely had the funky chili sauce that defines the dish. Without that, it resembled a slightly richer bowl of pho with wider rice noodles. Not bad as a noodle soup on its own terms, but it isn’t an actual Bun Bo Hue.
I also ordered spring rolls ($7). These had both shrimp and some tofu-meat approximation – not the new-age plant-based stuff, mind you, but the sort of fake meat that Buddhists have refined and perfected over a millennia of not eating meat. The rice paper was a bit chewy, but not yet stale.

For a quick and early Saturday dinner, I stopped by Pho Tai Loc. At 5pm, seating remained plentiful. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet ($14.95), the quintessential bowl of pho with everything in it.
The stock seemed quite flavorful. No skimping on boiling down bones. It didn’t possess too much in the way of aromatics, but had copious amounts of black pepper (which I quite enjoyed). Also, the bowl came out hot enough such that adding bean sprouts did not sap the meal of heat.
The pho places in Dorchester could learn from this place. I’d rather come here than go to that overrated street and get mediocre pho that the community gaslit itself into thinking it’s ok.

This is one of the more expensive places I’ve gone to for pho. I came in on my lunch break from work today. I ordered 1 beef pho and called 15 mins ahead of time. When I got there place was empty and my food wasn’t ready. No problem. I waited another 15 mins. Still no problem. When I got my food the lid to the broth was spilled all over the bag which got all over my car. Then I get back to work, I was given no utensils or even a container to eat it with. My beef was given to me in a paper container and the beef was FROZEN, had green spots, and the broth smelled old and rancid. I couldn’t even eat it. I worked rest of the day feeling so sick. It’s unfortunate, I get pho at different places at least once a week it’s one of my favorite meals in the winter but i had to say something. This was bad!

The food was decent, good portion size and value. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of meat i got as i dug my way through the Pho bowl. The broth was clean and overall pretty good. Good amount of noodles. The crab rangoons were ok. The restaurant itself feels a little dated and dark. I’m not sure if it was trying to go for a authentic Vietnamese stall look or they liked working in the dark? I think i saw 1 lamp and most of the lighting came from sunlight. Overall the service was good and the food was decent.

I ordered the #9 beef brisket pho and a thai tea to go after flying in from San Francisco for work. I was feeling under the weather and wanted something comforting and that reminded me of the bay, and I was not disappointed. Although I didn’t love the texture of the boba in the thai tea, I enjoyed the overall flavor and the pho hit the spot. Friendly owners and a cute neighborhood spot!

I would rate this place 0 stars if I could. Both Google and the sign on the front of the restaurant assured this place was open until 11pm. Barely 10 minutes past 8pm I open the door and am practically pushed out of the building by the hostess, who very unapologetically told me “closed.” When I mentioned both the sign and Google showing the restaurant wasn’t closed until 11, she said nothing and merely walked back into the restaurant, closing the door behind her. I didn’t realize “open until 11pm” actually means “open until we feel like closing.” Will never be coming back here again

Great menu and I enjoyed the Bún đặc Biệt, especially for the mini egg rolls and sauce. I was greeted right away and attended to well throughout my time there. The ambience was kinda dry, but they did a great job with the food.

The best crab rangoons! Delicious food. Friendly staff. Jukebox for music. Bar. Just the Scorpion bowl wasn’t the greatest kinda weak…

Fantastic, authentic Vietnamese food! I got the Bun Cha Gio. Noodles and vegetables were fresh, and the egg rolls were very good and crispy. The portion was also very large— I took about half of my meal home with me. I lived in Vietnam for a few months and the food was exactly how I remembered it!
The staff was incredibly friendly and kind, although they weren’t super attentive despite the restaurant not being busy. Food was a bit slow to come out, but definitely worth it.
The only real negative of the experience was that where we were sat smelled heavily of smoke, which was a bit off putting.
