I was so excited to find Hummus Republic in Morristown, NJ. I love Mediterranean food, and as a vegan, seeing so many vegan options initially made me even more excited. I’m not from the area—I was visiting from NY for a show—and this location was only about 10 minutes away, which made it feel perfect. When I arrived, the restaurant was completely empty, and I didn’t see a single employee. I stood there waiting for about 10–15 minutes and was just about to leave when someone finally came out. She didn’t greet me or say anything—just looked at me—which immediately made the experience uncomfortable.
I was already hesitant to order because the food appeared to be sitting out for a while. The hummus had a dry crust on top, the rice looked dried out, and the lettuce was wilting. When I tried to ask questions, I didn’t receive clear answers or help, and the interaction felt unfriendly and unwelcoming. When it was time to eat, I was honestly nervous—and unfortunately, the food was very salty and lacked flavor. I couldn’t even finish it and stopped after eating about half. I was highly disappointed. I truly love the concept of this place and feel it has the potential to be great. Food can absolutely be displayed like that when there’s a high turnover, but during slower times it really needs to be covered and properly preserved. With better customer service and food handling, this location could be so much better.

Nice food! The chicken and hummus bowl were great. Good selection of veggies and sauce. Go light on sauce the savor the falafel and chicken! Clean and well lit!

Was looking forward to this new addition in Morristown – however very disappointed as you definitely don’t get your money’s worth here. $17 for a lamb/beef bowl gets you an extremely small serving of meat with the rest of the bowl loaded with rice/toppings, and the food itself is decent at best. It’s a chain so it might just be this location/servers that skimp out on the serving. There are so many other options in Morristown for Mediterranean bowls that you can go to instead!
