A delicious “hole in the wall” Louisiana inspired downtown lunch spot!! Sooo good. A ton of bomb sandwich options. Tell them if it’s your first time, they’ll give you a free treat! Weekday lunch is their prime time so plan some time to wait. Pro-tip is to order before noon.

Excellent local sandwich shop that has a great community and passion for their food. Got the Rae’s Ruben which had some delicious corned beef. Simple sandwiches with great ingredients.

I recently stopped by Rae’s Sandwich Shoppe and man, it was awesome—the food and vibe totally hit the spot. This place is family-run, so you get that real sense of heart and hustle behind everything, with everyone super friendly and passionate about what they do. It’s got this cool, authentic Southern feel that’s laid-back and welcoming, like hanging out at a buddy’s backyard cookout.
I went for the shrimp po’boy sandwich, and it was killer: juicy shrimp piled high on a fresh, toasty roll with crisp lettuce, tomatoes, and this zesty remoulade that just tied it all together perfectly. Paired it with the pasta salad, which was fresh and tasty—al dente pasta mixed with veggies, herbs, and a light dressing that kept things refreshing without being heavy. You can tell they use top-notch ingredients and keep it real with those classic flavors.
If you’re craving a great bite in a chill spot, hit up Rae’s—you won’t regret it. Five stars all the way!

This sandwich shop is awesome. I came during a busy lunch rush so had to wait a few minutes but thats OK because I got to see Mr Ray having a conversation with a regular who he knew by name among other information. Made me feel good being from out of town to know I found the friendly and delicious sandwich shop downtown. Will come back when I next visit Nashville.

I looked for a sandwich shop that would allow my grandsons to go to after the ice storm. Rae’s Sandwich Shoppe popped up. The two men in the kitchen were SO sweet and patient while my grandsons made up their minds. They split a BLT on an 8 inch hoagie roll that was 4 inches thick (2inches thick with bacon). For desert, one boy had an Ooey Gooey that tasted like a slice of chess pie! The other asked for banana pudding. The banana pudding DID NOT come from a jello box! This is homemade…probably made with whipped cream, rather decadent!!
I ordered their Ruben sandwich. Very nice!
Highly recommend! 🙂

I got a Reuben and it was fantastic. Stopped in while traveling for work. Seemed like a great local spot and the owner was friendly and made the effort to know the names of more regular customers I saw come in while eating. Was a nice surprise to stumble across as my first meal getting into town.

Walking in, I felt like I’d just taken a seat at my grandma’s kitchen table at lunchtime—comforting, warm, familiar. Except… sorry Grandma, this sandwich is better.
I’ve always sworn I didn’t like sauerkraut or corned beef. But when I heard the Reuben was the top seller, I pushed past my inner “nope” and went for it.
And now? Consider me converted.
Absolutely incredible. If you’re on the fence, trust me—just order it. You won’t be disappointed.

The service was superb with friendly staff, the sandwiches (Southern Belle – slow-roasted turkey with cranberry dressing) were fantastic and very large portions, & the brownie was ohmygosh-better-than-grandma’s! Plenty of comfortable space in this diner. We’d never had cracked pepper sea salt chips, which were great too. We will definitely be back!
