I was visiting the Santa Maria area and really hoped to enjoy some tasty, savory, fabulous pupusas at Salvador Pupuseria. But when we arrived, the place was completely empty—only one person was dining there, which probably should’ve been a sign. We decided to give it a chance anyway.
I ordered cheese pupusas expecting that classic, rich flavor… but the cheese had a strange texture I’ve never experienced before. It tasted watered down, almost like a Monterey Jack that missed the mark. No flavor, no savoriness—just disappointing overall.
So if you’re in Santa Maria C.A. looking for delicious, authentic pupusas… this is not the place. Lol!

Good food made by real Salvadoran.
I recommend the fried Yuka with chicharon, it’s good.
Stay away from the panes rellenos they put a whole chicken leg with bone in it.

This place is great, flavors are authentic and the food is made to order. They don’t have pupusases ready made and sitting in a freezer or refrigerator so they taste freash and homemade. The cabbage is perfect also. Tried the yucca and it was the best I’ve had from any restaurant ever. I will definitely be returning often.
