Best coffeehouse around. Been coming here for years. Work, family, friends, solo time. You’ll definitely run into a few busy days if you’re a regular (where seating is hard to come by) but the fast service, quality and variety of food and drink along with the warm vibes makes for a great experience. They always rotate a timely and varied seasonal menu and have a fun selection of local curios. If they expanded to the space next door, offered a few gluten/dairy-free savory food items, we would probably never go to Starbucks again.

This is my go to place to grab a coffee with a friend or get some work done. Consistently good, and a really solid breakfast sandwich.

Delicious coffee, unique wood tables.
I love the ambiance here!
This is such a fun, unique coffee shop! A good amount of seating to have a conversation, do some work or just sip some espresso!
I can’t wait to come back and try some other drinks and goodies!

I always look for local shops when traveling and The Coffeesmith did not disappoint. Fantastic, friendly service was my experience. I enjoyed a latte with Rosemary Brown Sugar Syrup and it was light, aromatic, and superb. Next time I am in town, I will need to go back and try the Coke and Cold Brew! Recommend a visit if in Des Moines and if a local, make it a mainstay.

We love the Coffeesmith. Very nice seasonal flavors and standard drinks- they’re always consistent. And I’m not kidding when I say the croissant breakfast sandwiches are THE BEST. I don’t know where they get the croissants but they are amazing. And the aioli that’s on them=dreams. 10/10

Really good coffee, but it’s on the Milky side lately. What has been consistently good are their sandwiches and specifically, brown sugar bacon croissant. One of the best breakfast sandwiches I have had. The ambiance is typical coffee shop and service is prompt.

Coffee was good. I’m not in this area much so I’ve only been here twice but I’ve never been disappointed. I got a seasonal Elderberry Latté today and it was just as the barista described–not too sweet, but sweet enough. It’s Labor Day and one of the few coffee shops that are open so they were pretty packed with caffeine enthusiasts. I love the products that they offer and I think it’s nice that they have caffeine-free drinks (babyccino) for kids, etc…

First time here and perhaps my last time. I arrived about 7:40am and there were 2 people in front of me. I ordered house coffee—black—and a maple bacon ranch crossaint (AMAZING). From the get-go, the other patrons were staring at me like they were seeing a Martian…let’s just say I didn’t feel entirely welcome as a person of color in this Waukee coffee shop. The positive thing about the experience was that someone complimented my rainbow Iowa coffee mug (from home) and that I beat the rush, because from 7:57am til I left at 9am, there were at least 7 people in line at any point in time. The coffee isn’t good black, it’s quite bitter and might taste good with a bunch of milk and sugar. Cute farmhouse/industrial theme, but overall, not my cup of tea, unfortunately.

First time at The CoffeeSmith and such a great experience! I had the honey lavender white mocha which was perfectly sweetened and so smooth! The chicken bacon ranch panini was also really good and freshly made. Highly recommend!
