The place is set up pretty nicely and was very clean with an industrial chic look. We could either sit at the bar or a table and we chose the bar. Our bartender was attentive and polite.
We started with drinks – she had a pear cider that she enjoyed and I went with a Snafu Garnet and Black Cherry (had to rep Chucktown while visiting Rock Hill). Both were delicious. I then finished with a draft of Keepsake Brewery’s Little Helper, which is a tasty bright and hoppy pale ale with hints of citrus (shout out to a Gastonia brewery) that was quite delicious.
For food we started with homemade Mazzologs and they didn’t disappoint. Four house made mozzarella sticks that were quite large and crisped to perfection with marinara sauce for dipping. Quite cheesy and even better tasting. These are not your usual mozzarella cheese sticks found in a bar, trust me.
We both decided on pub style sandwiches. She had the Southern Stack, which was their cool rendition of a BLT with smoky bacon, thick cut fried green tomatoes, arugula, and this really delicious mustard remoulade. I had their version of the Philly with caramelized onion and white American cheese. For our sides, we both had the house made Russet chips (there is a sweet potato option as well). Both were very good and didn’t last long.
We had a chance to speak with the owner and he has quite a vision for this place that we hope takes off. This is a cool little gem in a growing part of Rock Hill and we hope more and more people continue to find it. It’s well worth the trip and you will not be disappointed.
Food: …
Atmosphere was definitely the best aspect if the Pour Market. There was a live musician playing and he was good with good music at a good volume for how small it is in there. The decor is really nice too, classic industrial with a nice little bar and a few tvs. There is an outdoor area around a big gas firepit that looked really nice but it was cold out so I didn’t see it up close.
Food was overall not bad, the flatbreads and Italian Salad were pretty good but they had no Italian dressing. The pork rind appetizer was decent but you don’t get much beer cheese dip with it. The grilled pimento cheese sandwich was a miss, my wife who likes pimento cheese had to end up scraping off the cheese and just ate some if the bread.
For the bar section, the beer selection was good. They serve a lot of wines as well, not sure about the liquor selection if any though…my back was to the bar so I didn’t see.
The service was the main issue, I’m sure the staff of 2 was probably overwhelmed a bit but if you want bus the tables you have no place for people to sit and when I asked about getting one of the tables cleaned it was basically a when we get to it you can have it and then they went back to tending the bar.
Great place if you’re coming for a few drinks and you can find a table. But not a place to come specifically for dinner.
