We gave this place a try, we’re not from the area. Very happy we stopped! Food was good and the staff were friendly, fast and helpful. Restaurant was clean. Fun bear decor.
I had the smaller portion (5oz) ‘Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast’ ($16.99) with eggs, hash browns and a giant biscuit. Hubby had ‘Bear’s Choice Breakfast’ ($14.99), eggs, bacon and french toast. His meal did not come with hash browns, so I shared mine because to add them on it was $6.49.
Sorry we were hungry and started eating before I took photos. And then, apparently my meal photo didn’t go through. Just a photo of the French toast meal and the fun restaurant. ‍♀️
Will definitely go back when in the area.

It’s a good place for breakfast. Best to get there early or expect a wait. We waited 30 minutes which was to be expected on a Sunday. We had their meat lovers omelette and The Grizz. The server was friendly and our orders came up quickly. Overall pretty good. The food quality was above average. Eggs came out a little runny, but the ham steak was thick and pancakes were oversized and delicious.

Food quality was very good. The amount of food seems to be cut Just like anything else in portion size that I had gotten used to over the years in different restaurants. The biscuit is massive heavy and tastes very good with the gravy. My son and I both got the original scrambowl.

On a road trip and happen to hear about BBD. I was sooo hungry …. Growl! Long line. Mathew was great at describing the home scratch goodness of the meatloaf, and checked if I want gravy over the meatloaf. Nice service detail. It came with crispy onion rings, and offered bacon bits on the nicely blanched broccoli. It was his favorite dish so I was comfortable trying it. Since I love the newsie menu, I asked if I can take it home. He said it’s great to tack it on the fridge. Good idea. Food was good and the diner does remind me of the 90s but more current. But where are the blue haired ladies? And who devoured my food. I guess I was so hungry I forgot to take a pic first. Yummy in the Tummy.

A Five-Star Start: Black Bear Diner Breakfast
My recent visit to Black Bear Diner for breakfast was outstanding, delivering on both quality and exceptional service.
The service was absolutely fantastic. My server was genuinely attentive and welcoming, making the entire dining experience top-notch from start to finish.

The food was the definition of hearty satisfaction. The biscuits were fluffy, and the spicy breakfast sausage was very good, offering a robust flavor and a nice kick. Black Bear Diner truly gives quantity; the substantial portions guarantee you leave satisfied and ready for the day.

Recommendation: Highly recommended for a high-quality, generously portioned breakfast with stellar service.

Nice place (interior), everything else is so so. We were waiting for 45 min for our meals, all fries were soft, omlette was far from hot, same as my prime rib roast, roast was cold and had 30% nasty fat. Salad addition was like Walmart salad… and that was 29 bucks, wth??? will not return.

The food here is amazing! My experience started by being greeted with a smile by Camilla. Matter of fact she always greets me and everyone with a smile . At the table I was also greeted with a smile and excellent service from Micah! She was attentive to how I requested my order. The portion of the food is more than what you could ask for! You won’t find biscuits and gravy like this anywhere else! Skip the sausage links that you can get anywhere and opt in for the home made sausage patties. You won’t regret it! The managers, Tasha and Brenda are even out on the floor helping, greeting customers, and asking how their food and experience is. To top it off, the place has an awesome atmosphere and is kept clean, including the restrooms.

Great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their huge menu provides many delicious meals that can satisfy anyone. Some of the classic dishes are cooked to perfection, chicken fried steak is huge and well prepared. Their sweet pancakes are delicious.
Good and popular place to go eat good food.

A Very Happy Thanksgiving !
Came for the Holiday Dinner and we’re not disappointed! Turkey and all the usual trimmings……delicious!! Of course the restaurant was busy. But all ran very smoothly!! We waited in our car and a text was sent to let us know when our table was ready. Walking through the restaurant to and from our table everyone looked happy, laughing and enjoying their meal and the experience. The staff was happy and efficient and wished us a Happy Thanksgiving. Our server Meg was friendly, smiling and gave us great service!!
We will be back!!

We met my son (it was his 58th birthday!) and daughter-in-law on Sunday for our first visit to the Black Bear Diner! Yes – on a Sunday morning, and it was busy, but everyone wore smiles – staff and customers alike! Our first impression was amazing; so much to look at, mugs and bears and slippers Oh My! And a pastry case!! And their own little hot sauces named Mamma Bear, Pappa Bear and Baby Bear!!

We were seated quickly, and our server was Randall! She was amazing!! She paid attention to details, was patient with our ordering and very attentive throughout our experience. Love a Great Server!!! The only criticism I will offer is that the biscuits and gravy were not to our liking……but the coffee and everything else was delicious! We will be back!!

Update 2/2/26: Black Bear (formerly Sharis). Great service, good food, just like the other Black Bear restaurants that I have eaten at. This is the second time eating her, 1st time for breakfast. I ordered the Bear’s choice breakfast: 2 eggs, hickory smoked ham, 2 biscuits and gravy. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and delicious. The ham was very good, however, a very small portion size. The two fresh baked biscuits were Hugh, however, there was not enough of their delicious gravy to cover the biscuits. I would recommend ordering the two buscuit and gravy breakfast, ask for extra gravy
Eat half of it, and take the other half home for a second meal. I also ordered 2 sweet cream pancakes to take home. My wife enjoyed them. The ladt time I was there was on a Friday night with AYCE Fish and chips are always good and very filling.
