The Fox & Ford brand draws its inspiration from the travels of Pere Jacques Marquette—the hotel’s namesake. Together with Louis Joliet, Marquette traveled the Fox River and studied cultures from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico. Ford means to cross a river, so while the name signals the property’s history, it also represents a new era for the Pere Marquette as we forge ahead toward a vibrant future.

We dined at the Bar outside Fox and Ford. Started with the red pepper hummus and the portion was huge and tasted good. Buffalo crispy wings were average. Large selection of drinks and big beer menu. Servers were attentive. Pricing was fair.

We dined for our Valentine’s Dinner. It was a preselected menu. Mind you, each “course” was made to seem like it would be one dish per person. False, each dish is shared for the couple. Portions are small, at best. It would have been better to eat at a fast food restaurant. The meal was a $95 experience. Started with oysters and those were good. Followed with a lobster pasta. My stomach is still churning. The noodles were crunchy, the sauce was clearly an oil/cream mix that wasn’t stirred. In fact, it looked curdled. The service was great. The food was not.

Five stars for the customer service only, everyone from the wait staff , support staff and bartneders were amazing…everyone went over the top at all levels to be make a great time. Sadlly the food sucked, awful 65 dollar ribeye small sad old piece of meat, that they overcooked, covered in sauce and spice to try to hide that bad meat. so do yourself a favor skip the food, grab a drink (those were amazing) .

My boyfriend and I reserved a spot for the New Year’s Eve dining experience and were genuinely excited, but unfortunately it fell short of expectations. Several aspects of the meal did not match what was advertised in the reservation. The steak medallions were described as being wrapped in bacon, which they were not. The vegetable of the night was listed as broccoli, but instead guests were given a choice between green beans or carrots. While that substitution could have been fine, both options were significantly undercooked. The shrimp was also cold rather than hot or even lukewarm.
Additionally, the advertisement stated that the event would run from 5:00 PM until midnight and include live music. When we arrived around 6:00 PM, there was no live music. If it was scheduled for later in the evening, that was not made clear. Overall, the New Year’s Eve special was presented as a warm, lively event, but that atmosphere was not reflected in our experience, and we ended up leaving shortly after dinner.
That said, the staff were very polite and helpful and were truly the highlight of the evening.

Oof. I do not often give bad reviews, but if this saves someone else from going there, then it’s worth it! From the outside, this looks like a really nice restaurant. But after first looks, everything went down hill. Food was very blah. My husband’s pasta was incredibly overcooked, only maybe 10% of his noodles were whole, and his sauce lacked salt. My fries were very undercooked and soft, while the patty on my melt was burnt. The bread was also supposed to be rye bread and was white bread. The rolls were terrible, clearly warmed from frozen. Staff was inattentive, we waited for over 45 minutes to get our checks and pay for our food once we were done eating, we actually had to flag another staff member down. My husband went to the bathroom during that time and saw our waitress and other staff exiting the bathroom, with the smell of pot on them. Our server was also wearing a sweatshirt under her service vest, and couldn’t remember who ordered what when they brought the food out. The restaurant was almost empty, so none of this was because they were busy. We paid $100 for this meal, which is just ridiculous. Way too expensive for very bland, over or undercooked food, and terrible service. Would absolutely not come back and warned family in the area to avoid it!

The samosa appetizer was delicious. The shrimp and grits were disappointing, very dry and crumbly, and not very flavorful. The grilled chicken was okay, not bad but not amazing. The complimentary bread was fresh and the butter was soft, very good. The vibe of the restaurant was nice as well. For the price I expected more of the food and probably won’t be back.

It started out “meh”, got decent, and now it’s ridiculously bad. Rigatoni extremely bland, obviously microwaved or just simply boiled into oblivion. Rolls were obviously frozen and no bread plates to eat on.
*Most* (but not all) of the staff seems more interested in checking into their phones and ear buds than waiting on patrons.
Usually I’d expect expensive but delicious at a Marriott. This is the former ($70+ steaks) without the latter.
So much promise, this place needs a real manager ASAP.
Side note, service at the bar is excellent, but they don’t offer the same menu.

I really wanted to like this place but I was HIGHLY disappointed. The staff was ok, the atmosphere was lovely but the food was tasteless, lukewarm and no where near what they are charging.
Quick summary 1-10
Atmosphere 8.5
Quality 4
Food 4 (w/o porkchop, its a 2)
Service 4
(everyone was pleasant but at these prices it was lackluster)
Pretzels w Beer cheese 0
Grilled cheese 5
Rigatoni 5
Cauliflower steak 0
Porkchop 8
Ceaser salad 3
The pretzel bites with beer cheeze was terrible. The cheese tasted overly burned and instead of tossing it they tried to salvage it.
The porkchop was fantastic along with the mash potatoes and greenbeans but the veggies were luke warm and the porkchop wasnt what I would consider herb CRUSTED.
The grilled cheese and soup was ok but the sandwhich was cold.
The rigatoni pasta was overcooked, the sauce was bland and the portion was small but the pancetta on top was great.
Dont bother ordering the cauliflower steak because it takes like they just threw a bunchbof ingredients that dont go together on a plate. It looks promising but has ZERO flavor. The sauce tasted as though they poured it straight from a can. The sauce isnt right for that dish and the veggies were undercooked and UNSEASONED.
The ceaser salad was also a let down. It says tableside but they just broughtbout a small bowl of lettuce with too many croutons, overpowering cheese crisps and a dressing that tastes mayo heavy.

The food was ok. not memorable. We will not be back. Some plates were not as ordered. We did not get the bottle of wine that we ordered, even after clarifying but, then was still on the bill. We got a pretty good bottle instead so, it was fine in the end. The server was very friendly.

Im not sure where the negative reviews come from. My wife and I stopped in here without a reservation on a snowy Sunday. Our waiter Chase was absolutely awesome, the drinks were great, and both the Pork Chop and Salmon were Great!!
