On my way home to San Diego after visiting family in Inglewood, I decided to stop and place a to-go order. After ordering, I asked the employee if they accepted Apple Pay and was told the business was cash only. While that was inconvenient, it wasn’t a major issue. I let the employee know it was no problem and that I would return with cash; however, I was then told my order would not be prepared unless I paid in cash upfront. This made me feel as though the employee assumed I might leave without paying or that I wasn’t serious about returning. I even jokingly offered to leave my ID as reassurance, but that was refused.
Feeling a bit frustrated, I agreed to go get cash. On my way to do so, I became curious about how phone orders are handled if there is a strict cash-upfront policy. I had my wife call to place an order over the phone, and she was politely told, “No problem, 15 minutes,” with no request for upfront payment. When I returned with cash and raised this inconsistency with the employee/owner, the explanation I received did not make sense. I was told that because phone orders have a “call-back” number, they can prepare the order before payment. If that is the case, I don’t understand why they couldn’t have taken my number and prepared my order while I went to get cash—especially for a cash-only business operating in 2025.
Overall, the experience left me feeling targeted based on my appearance as a young Black man wearing an LA hat, which is especially disappointing given that this is a Black neighborhood. The owner did not appear to be Black, though I assume the younger person working alongside her was her mixed-race son. Based on the interaction and the community the business serves, I believe there may be underlying racial bias. I did not feel welcome and will not be returning.
Also fish was very mid. No seasoning.

We went there as Google gave it as a result for fish market, however it’s more of a fish and chips store, making food to go. They only had a couple of fresh fish options to sell for us to cook at home and it looked a little sad so we ended up not buying anything there.

Although I’ve lived in LA forever my sister and I just visited Eee’s n Cee’s for the first time. As we are picky about our fish we went for it. While looking at the menu there was another customer in there, so I asked about the food. He told us the food was really good. So, we placed our orders and let me tell you all….the food DID NOT DISAPPOINT, but not only did the food NOT disappoint the customer service was EXCELLENT. When she handed our bags I said ooh they heavy (lol). Baby when we popped the container open the presentation spoke volume and for what you get the prices are really good. We couldn’t even pull off without going in and is all I’m going to say. I hate I didn’t ask her name but she’s the beautiful cook and owner of the establishment (1996). There are not many places you can get great food with great service but this mom and pop establishment definitely did just that. She is really sweet and KNOWS how to cook. If you haven’t been please check them out! My sister and I thank you Lita & Mo

First timer, I ordered the No. 4 – 5 pcs of fish, fries & 10 med shrimps. My fish was filet sole & side orders fries & hush puppies for $17+. What I didn’t like was that I had to pay an additional $.75 for ordering the type of fish I ordered because it was considered a premium fish, the fish & shrimp were not seasoned, but fresh. The tartar sauce came in very tiny containers and you were only given two for 5 pieces of fish and 10 medium shrimps. Service was great. CASH ONLY.

Fish (catfish) and shrimp were good. Sides were mediocre ( coleslaw & greens) Cash only (they should advise about this fact, when you call in your order). I recommend getting the fish a la carte.

You get a side and fresh slices of bread with your meal. Just like down South in the old days. Parking is Free. Limited! Parking on the street. Oh, you may eat there, but small area. Take to go and enjoy your meal with a nice glass of wine. No public bathroom and pay with $ Cash.. Bring cash! Smile.. Drop in and Note: You will Enjoy! Don

Delicious fresh catfish filets. We liked them cooked as nuggets. Light and crispy on the outside, fluffy in the inside. Definitely not over seasoned like some fish places. Service is outstanding. They asked how we want our catfish and oysters cooked…& that’s exactly how we got it. We’re a fan!!!
