We had a 7:00 PM reservation on a Friday night and arrived early at 5:56 PM, at which point we were promptly seated. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the evening.
It took approximately 18 minutes before our server came to the table. We ordered one Old Fashioned for me and a cocktail for my wife. Thirteen minutes later, the drinks arrived. My Old Fashioned was good (as it usually is), but my wife’s drink was essentially straight alcohol and undrinkable.
After waiting another 11 minutes for our server to return, we requested a replacement for her drink and ordered another Old Fashioned for me. Thirteen minutes later, the replacement arrived — unfortunately, it was extremely tart and still not good.
We had also ordered the charcuterie board, which never arrived. After 1 hour and 8 minutes total at the table, with no food and only drinks, we informed the server that we were finished and asked that a manager be summoned.
The server returned and told us the manager was “busy” and that the drinks would be “on the house.” No apology from management, no visit to the table, and no explanation.
We left and went to Embers, where we had an excellent experience — drinks, food, attentive service, and our meal served within 22 minutes.
For a restaurant with Calla’s reputation and pricing, this experience was deeply disappointing. I have added photos of our empty table at Calla (with only drinks) and the exceptional food and service we received immediately afterward at Embers.
I would genuinely like ownership or management to respond. I am more than willing to return for a drink and discuss this experience, but this visit fell far short of expectations.

Sat at the bar with Brandon—truly a culinary experience from start to finish. My appetizer (BBQ shrimp), entree (Prime Short Ribs) & dessert (house made cheesecake) were all superb. Brandon is a master of his craft—his cocktails are truly exceptional. Cannot recommend enough!

(Ordered on DoorDash) I know the photo on the menu is edited but…this is what I got. I’m a little disappointed. I have common sense so obviously I didn’t expect it to be perfectly arranged in the box, however, they forgot my salmon and I feel like my food was prepared apathetically solely bc it was a to-go order. The dish wasn’t cheap so thankfully my boyfriend went and got the salmon for me and said the servers were very kind and helpful! Mistakes happen and people deserve grace. It was probably very busy or they could’ve been short staffed. The food itself wasn’t my favorite but that’s ok. I don’t want to bash the restaurant, Just wanted to share my experience!

A great dining experience option in Lake Charles, we enjoyed all the dishes and tried as much as we could on the menu by dining 2 days in a row some of the dishes are on the sweet side including the Brussels sprouts. The tiramisu was excellent.

My husband and I went to Callas this weekend recommended by a friend. Definitely try to set a reservation! they are busy for a reason :). Food was amazing! vegetarian options, wonderful drink menu, and honestly decent prices for the size on their “shareables” part of the menu. Everything tasted wonderful and the ingredients tasted worth the money you’d spend. Our waitress was Callie and she was so sweet. Gave us time to eat and enjoy everything while also checking up on us at decent times. She was so bright and helpful through our whole meal. We noticed the waiter on the table next to us, Christiano. He was just as bright and helpful to his table.
Only off point my husband and i noticed was some of the other waitresses putting our drinks and some appetizers at other tables and leaving before we could say they were ours. Two of the waitresses were unwelcoming and made somewhat rude comments about the restaurant itself. I was very thankful we had Callie and got to witness Christiano. Nonetheless, the food and most of our service was wonderful! will go again.

As always the atmosphere is exceptional!! The food was amazing and drinks even better! The environment is business casual but laid back and relaxing. I highly recommend checking it out for some upscale dining. The steak and quail were cooked to perfection!!

My fiancé and I came for lunch, we had the BBQ shrimp to start, then we each had the lobster and shrimp pasta, the Mac and cheese as a side, then cheesecake as dessert. Combine that with 1 drink and after tip the total came to $200 for the two of us. The cheesecake was inedible due to the crust being extremely salty. The service was great and the rest of the food was pretty good. Worst part came right after we left the restaurant. We both got ill to our stomachs on the way home. Multiple bathroom stops and nausea. I want to give more than 1 star, and if we would not have gotten sick I believe we would’ve. Can’t say I’ll be going back. For that kind of money, there are just better places in Lake Charles.

Calla is a really nice restaurant and bar with a homey feel to it. They have a good selection of drinks with a nice open bar area. The seating areas are nice, open and have a family style decor.
The craft cocktails are pretty good with a nice selection of ingredients. They have a nice touch with the branded orange peels and garnishes. Really enjoyed the smoky old fashioned. The pricing on some of the cocktails was a bit high, but were still very good.
The food was tasty and the fine presentation added to the experience. We had the brussel sprouts which were really nice with the ham and seasoning, but over done with too much sauce that made it over sweet / salty. The same was true of the short rib. A little moderation on the sauces and heavier use of some spices would make a perfect balance.
The wait staff were extremely nice and attentive. This lead to a positive and enjoyable experience. The bathrooms were very clean and well kept, thank you.
Overall a very enjoyable evening. We will definitely come back again and hopefully soon.

We ordered the shrimp and grits and the truffles and mushrooms pasta with scallops. The shrimp and grits were An amazing taste experience. So many flavors and textures as well as aroma. When the entre was brought out the aroma surrounded the table. Every bite was the same as the first. The scallops were prepared perfectly tender and the flavors of the pasta with truffles were delicious.
