We’ve stopped here a few times to and from vacation. I’ve always enjoyed the drinks I’ve gotten. Last time I got a dark side and it was delicious. Overall this coffee shop is cute and cozy. The bathroom is very clean and nicely decorated. My kids love the smoothies and have gotten those numerous times. So far we haven’t been as impressed by the service. The service wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. I haven’t stayed long enough to get work done, but it seems like a good coffee shop to do computer work at.

The attendant was very friendly, helpful, and courteous. She used her barista skills to efficiently hand craft my delcious Decker latte, and she packaged my pastry in a cute little brown bag! I was very satisfied with my purchase and the experience!
The establishment is clean, (including the bathroom) and comfortable. The decor is very unique, with dim lighting, it adds rustic modern vibes. The music is also great addition; it gives a positive inspiration to the experience! Seem like a great place to relax, or work on your laptop, or meet a friend for a beverage and/or pastry.
Parking may be hard to find if it’s super busy in the area; there are a few spots to parallel park in front of the establishment…there is a side parking lot; however, most of the spaces are assigned to Lovick’s Cafe until 2pm.

I stopped by Middle Grounds recently and was impressed by the amount of people getting work done, and friendliness of the employees. It had lively energy, yet still felt relaxing. Even though there was 5 people in front of me in line, I was greeted with a smile, which made a good impression. Their Instagram matches the in-store vibe perfectly, cozy and creative. Prices were clear and reasonable, and even had a great loyalty program to sign up for! Definitely a five-star experience. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

I wish I knew this place a long time ago..they have amazing coffee and a calm, peaceful, positive vibe and a great huge place to sit in a calm environment and enjoy a sip of any drink your desire! Cozy, classy, and welcoming are the best words I can think of to describe this local treasure. It’s honestly one of the best things about Kinston.
I was introduced to this place by someone I know, and I always got their Mocha Frappuccino in milk. One of the best frappuccinos I have ever had. ❤
I think this place is a great competitor for Starbucks. One can dare say that it’s even BETTER than Starbucks, which puts a smile on my face when I think about it.

THE coffee place to go to for your java, tea, smoothies and pastries. Am an absolute coffee fanatic, as is most in my family, always in search of a good coffee place with a great atmosphere and product and did not have to go far to find Middle Ground Coffeehouse.. checking all the boxes and locally owned and operated. Their location is right in downtown Kinston, NC and the place is huge inside with a variety of seating areas from sofas, armchairs, bar stool (area) and plenty of flat surafe area to play games, do paperwork/computer, enjoy your drink and pastry. The staff is wonderful, friendly, helpful, personable and attentive and keep the area clean and organized. Our drinks were made quick and order taken quick as well. I had their chai latte, my favorite hot drink, and Middle Grounds by far has the best one ive had in any of the coffee places ive visited.. worth a try.. hot or iced. Highly recommend!!

Chill little coffee shop on the main strip in downtown Kinston. Atmosphere is warm and inviting with lovely décor. I got a caramel frappe and the cranberry lemon muffin and they were both perfect! If you don’t like frappes don’t worry Middle Grounds offers a variety of coffee items as well as coffee beans. If you’re looking coffee in downtown Kinston this is the spot to be! Grab yourself a refreshing beverage and treat.

I LOVE this place and spend tons of time and money here when I’m in town but PLEASE hire more than one person in the mornings!! Also, I have come here for a year and have brought my own cup every time. A few months ago, the morning barista changed and now my 16 ounce cup of coffee is just over half full! I have pointed this out the past two mornings as the price is $6.75 and it comes nowhere near filling my 16 ounce cup ( a Starbucks insulated cup with ounces on the bottom). The barista shrugged and said that maybe because it was a taller cup (same ounces, slim and tall). I needed to work in the afternoon yesterday and came back to Middle Grounds and ordered the same drink and it filled the same cup with a different barista! I also just learned that there was an incentive program after a year, just because the guy in front of me was talking about “stars.” So sad this is happening now.
