My waitress was friendly and answered all my questions about the menu, happily going to the kitchen to find answers she didn’t readily have. The service was not slow.
I started with the soup which was broccoli cheddar. It was beautifully smooth and creamy, not gloppy and starchy like at some places where soup is an afterthought. The broccoli flavor was fresh and punchy. It came with oyster crackers, which I’m a fan of.
My dinner was a nice slab of fresh salmon baked with a horseradish cream sauce on top. They did not hold back with the horseradish and I found the bold combination to be delightful. The garlic mashed potatoes were as delicious as the waitress described. The vegetable medley (an add on; the meal only came with a starch side) were a little soggy but acceptable.
I noticed some tables indulging in the prime rib special and it did look tasty.
Dessert left a bit to be desired. I asked for the caramel apple pie a la mode and was brought out a rather tiny slice. The filling was OK but had sort of homogenized, and the crust on the pie was just mush, indicating that it might have been around past it’s prime. The cost for dessert was a whopping $7.50, and I could have done much better with that money at a local ice cream parlor.
Overall, dinner was great. The price for the main meal and soup were very competitive- I think the salmon with vegetables was around $20. I would definitely stop here again for dinner, and maybe just go somewhere else for dessert.
Went back for the Prime Rib on Saturday and was amazed at the amount of food for the price. It was also amazing. Did not hesitate to return Sunday for the Turkey dinner special and was once amazed at the quality and quantity of the food.
All 3 nights the staff was fast and friendly. Venue was clean and nicely decorated. I will definitely be back on my next Upstate NY visit.
Ordered a fishbowl drink – it was a very SMALL fishbowl for $15
