Bellecour brings authentic French cuisine to Minneapolis’s North Loop. Chef Gavin Kaysen honors his Lyon mentors, Daniel Boulud and Paul Bocuse, with classic bistro fare and warm hospitality. Named after Lyon’s central square, we serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a relaxed neighborhood setting.

I’m so happy Bellecour has opened this new location! I used to come all the time when they were at their original spot, and everything I loved is still here. The pastries are exceptional, definitely the best almond croissants in the Cities, coming from someone who orders almond croissants at every café. The food is consistently delicious, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere makes every visit feel special.
It is unfortunate that the new hours close in the afternoon, which takes away some of the neighborhood café feel. I’ve always loved seeing people hang out here in the afternoons, and I hope they correct course so the space can continue to be the community gathering spot it has always been.
Thrilled to have Bellecour back and highly recommend!

Love their breakfast bakery so this time I wanted to try Dinner.
The complimentary bread was delicious. The squash soup was great. Not a big fan of French Onion tho.
The entrees were okay…again, not a big fan.
The desserts are outstanding tho.
I’d say I’ll go back to bakery but not for dinner 🙂

You order at a counter with a person. Their counter has a display case with their baked good. They give you a number on a pole and then you find a table to sit. You go pour your own water at a counter with plastic cups. I wish this restaurant was able to give better service when they are charging the highest food prices in the Twin Cities.
I thought the croissant was over baked and dry. Picture attached. The quiche was delicious! It was custardy and the squash was perfectly cooked and sweet. It was a large portion. Picture attached. I did go on opening day, so hopefully they’re working out what I thought was a dry croissant.
The interior was very elegant and professionally constructed. The bathroom has beautiful beveled tile walls.

Cheff Gavin Kaysen delivers again in the revitalization of the the original Bellecour. More intimate but keeping the beautiful intentional design and warmth. The experience was top notch. From the Duck Wings to Trout, the food kept hitting. Do yourself a favor and get apps to share. Will be back again.

The atmosphere was wonderfully cozy and absolutely perfect for a cold day. We shared the beef tartare and fries at the bar, both of which were excellent. I enjoyed an espresso martini while my friend had a dirty martini, and our server’s recommendation of a carafe of wine was spot on. Every detail of the experience was exceptional, and I can’t wait to return again soon!

Our most recent visit to Bellcour was divine! Dishes were beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. You could taste the quality of the ingredients, and Chef Gavin Kaysen’s creativity shone through in every course. Classic French techniques were elevated with thoughtful as well as modern touches that made the menu feel both authentic and exciting. The ambiance was intimate and charming, perfect for a date night or a relaxed evening with close friends. Soft lighting and tasteful décor created a warm, inviting atmosphere that made you want to linger. The service was equally impressive—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling intrusive. From start to finish, it was a memorable dining experience that we can’t wait to repeat.

This was a small, charming, and cozy restaurant with excellent service. The steak frites were a standout for sure. The staff were very accommodating and welcoming of our six month old. We have been to Spoon and Stable several times and were very excited about Gavin’s new restaurant – it did not disappoint. We’ll definitely go back!

Dinner service – INCREDIBLE. Best dinner I’ve ever had. Incredible service, timing was perfect. We had the escargot, oysters, and duck wings for apps. ALL amazing. We had the mushroom gnocchi (light and cloud like pillowy texture) and the trout (so complex) – also phenomenal. I can tell they put a lot of thought into their dinner menu. Dinner is above 5 stars. Not as expensive as what we thought, and worth every penny! Can’t wait to go for lunch service (:
Breakfast (I did go on Sunday during opening weekend) – The barista situation seems odd considering the volume. One machine and only 2 baristas for a line out of the door.. I felt bad for the baristas. The space seemed so cramped. The coffee wasn’t the best. I asked for one pump of vanilla and saw the barista pour (not pump) way more than a small amount of vanilla in my cup.
We got the breakfast sandwich which I did not like. Might be personal preference but the patty was thick and had an odd flavor. The quiche was good but larger than expected compared to what was served at the previous location. The side salad was way overly dressed and overly salted. I assume this is opening weekend blunders.
Their baked goods are always 10/10. The interior is very cute minus a few feng shui issues. I am hoping they work out the breakfast service kinks. It is pretty chaotic in the mornings.. so maybe wait until things calm down for breakfast!
