They have lunch specials bento box that is reasonably priced and it’s good. It’s unusual to find a place serve chawanmushi as part of the bento box, which is awesome.
We tried a few of their appetizers and they’re all good. Their sushi and sashimi are decent too.
Overall the food is good, however, IMHO, there are a few improvements can be made:
1) There is no divider between the front door and tables. If you sit at the first row of the few tables by the door, it’ll be cold or windy at night whenever people come in and out of the restaurant. They do have a lot of people come in and out for to-go orders and also for dine-in.
2) Once you scanned the QR code to look at the menu:
a) For the “House Special” sushi rolls, there is no description below the name of the sushi. We don’t know what’s inside the rolls without having to click into each of the picture to see. It becomes way too many clicks. It makes it hard to know which roll to order (especially when you dine with kids or people with allergies). I had to use two phones – 1st phone to view another site to read the descriptions of the rolls in another site and the 2nd phone to order online to make it faster, without having to click in and out of each roll to read the description. This took awhile to order.
b) After you view an item (a sushi roll for example), the “X” to close the picture is super hard to find. The “X” blends into the background color of the picture. When you click the back button, it kicks you out of the whole menu and you’ll have to scan the QR code again.
3) Most of the “House Special” rolls have either shrimp tempura or spicy tuna in them. For those who don’t want fried shrimp or spicy ingredients inside their rolls, the choices become very limited. Shrimp tempura is nice to eat on its own when it’s crunchy. Sometimes it gets soggy wrapped inside the rice. It would be nice if there are more non-fried and non-spicy ingredients inside the rolls. Wish the chefs were more creative.
The online menu needs to be improved to make it easier to use, more user friendly and allow customers to see all the ingredients of the sushi rolls without too many clicks to speed up the ordering process.
The restaurant is small but utilized the space efficiently. They also have a few tables outside. Our family of 4 ordered rolls and other dishes. Average about $15/roll. Sashimi is more expensive. Our bill came out to be about $80.
Their 3 roll combo is very reasonably priced with them also being quite good as well.
Their specialty roll that I got was fantasic albeit a bit pricy compared to the rest but still a good roll.
Would recommend for people near by for sure.
The restaurant is located in a busy mall area and parking can be a bit crowded, but there are lots of spots. We were able to get seated quickly and made our orders quickly.
The sashimi was exceptional! Very large pieces of fresh cuts and we will definitely order again. Sushi was also very good as was the tempura dinner set. I ordered the steamed clams as I love them and would say they were good, but would definitely skip the Japanese style okra.
Overall would highly recommend!
We order beef teriyaki and it’s coming with rice , soup and salad, California, and Unagi rolls and hot tea.
Service is friendly but I think luck of experience and practice.
The decor is simple and the place small and the food/ kitchen aroma goes to the dinning area means you and your clothes smell after you eat there.
Update: Still my go-to. Awesome staff make you feel at home! Thanks!
