7.8/10

Quality of Chicken and lamb was good and quantity in mains was plentiful.

Nothing was show stopping. Pretty much run of the mill standard in food so no complaints.

I would come back yes but not after trying another place first (I’m an infrequent visitor to Exeter and surrounding area).

Our main waiter was spot on. I asked to tip on top of the bill, he was honest enough to point out tip had already been included so there was no need, he pointed out it was options too. 50/50 on the idea of service change being put on with your discretion to pay but at times like this it can be convenient. With this charge on bill it was still reasonable meaning for 2 we paid 32.50 each – few sides, poppadoms nan, 2 curries 2 drinks and rice . Can’t complain there.

Room for improvement but only from the kitchen it’s self, decor – drinks – overall menu and staff were faultless.

I told the Chap who took my order that I would give them a review of the takeaway I ordered, a Chicken tikka Vindaloo. I hoped to give a glowing 5 stars as he told me they were the best in town. I thought that may have given them a heads up but…
Maybe they had run out of base sauce and watered it down as the sauce ran off the plate almost clear when I poured out onto the plate, not even mixed together. I have never seen this before and it was cold?. The result was a Watery liquid, very little spice or flavour and one small piece of potato. Then a fist full of curry leaves that was the over riding taste. Watery curry leaf juice, not a vindaloo.
I ordered chicken tikka pieces in the sauce. These must have been marinading less than an hour because none of the marinade had gone into the chicken. The chicken was rock hard like an old laying hen. My mushroom pillau rice was boiled rice with mushrooms again no flavour.
Not the best in town I hope. The lot went down the toilet.

Visited Ganges in Exeter and was really let down. The food was honestly quite poor — bland, oily, and nowhere near the quality you’d expect for the price. On top of that, the staff were rude and dismissive, which made the whole experience even worse. Definitely not somewhere I’d recommend, and I won’t be going back.

Excellent food, good service, maybe a little darkly lit especially the stairs down to the toilets.
If I was to say anything negative it’s the fact they add 10% optional gratuities onto the bill without informing, so I paid the bill in full and didn’t notice the service charge until I got home.
That aside it was a good dining experience

We love the food here, truly likely the best Indian food in Exeter. The shashlik was amazing and when I asked for extra chillies with my garlic chilli chicken they gave me loads, that is an amazing dish. The keema nan ranks above the best I have ever had.

I want to give it 5 stars but., the waiters are a little bit distant, even grumpy, I did manage to crack a smile once but it is hard work. I am aware that likely the staff have to put up with plenty of drunken abuse but we were sobre and would have like to feel a little more welcome.

Take away curry whilst away on Business in Exeter. Mirchi Sabji (vegetarian curry) was delicious. Team with a Pashwari Naan and pilau rice for a real treat.

Fantastic restaurant, highly recommend.
A good selection of vegetarian dishes. I had Ragara Pattice to start and Palak Cootu Curry with a side of Brinjal Bhajee for my main.
Food was very tasty and portions were a good size, I will probably skip the starter next time. I look forward to returning and trying other dishes from the menu.
