Overall, I would go back for drinks and appetizers, but I would not go for a full dinner until they have a different vegan dish on the menu.
I think I got it. Wish I took pictures of more than the drinks. Starting with the playful quirky names, the tastes combined in the food and drinks, the vibe, the presentation and service are peppered with artful details.
So…. they actually sell this a synergistic art that just uses the medium of serving food and drink to entertain the senses. This is why one would go there.
Not sure what was happening in the kitchen on 12/12/2025 but three out of the four dishes we ordered were so SALTY we couldn’t really taste much of anything else. The salt overpowered the dishes and left us eager to pay the check and swiftly end our experience.
The cook on the food for each course was done very well, minus the sweet potato fritters. The fritters were the one course not completely dominated into submission by salt but the texture was wet/gummy. The menu itself feels like a a love letter to comfort food but executed with a some lovely technique and presented in an upscale way. I especially love the stoneware plates used! So beautiful! Sadly I cannot say more about the flavors as I couldn’t taste anything beyond salt. On a positive note I guess my iodine levels are in a safe range after this meal.
Some other stand out moments of the dining experience would be the easy and quick check-in process. We were seated immediately, asked upfront by the hostess if we had any allergies the server should know about, and were even given an allergen menu to look over. The second standout is the allergen menu. Love it when a restaurant understands dietary restrictions and takes the time to markup a menu so it’s SUPER easy for guests to make meal decisions. Great job team at Fig & Ash!
The atmosphere was lovely. I enjoyed being able to see part of the kitchen from the dining room. The moody lighting, warm woods, and small industrial touches throughout create a vibe that’s easy to enjoy. One small detail that could have made the evening better would be a coat check. The dining area felt a little tight and it would have been so nice not to worry about my coat at the table.
And as for the service experience, well, it was superb. Probably my favorite part of dining. Knowledgeable servers, I loved how our plates and silverware were constantly being changed out course by course. They knew my partner and I were sharing everything so they adjusted the platting accordingly. At one point a server came over and crumb dusted our table. Lovely service moment you usually only see at Michelin restaurants!
Overall, I wish I could recommend this restaurant but I cannot, mainly due to the kitchen overusing salt to the point I couldn’t taste or enjoy 75% of the meal. If this were to be fixed, I’d gladly go back to try it again.
We were seated right away. I had taken my coat off but put it back on pretty quickly with the cold air coming in from the main door and the patio side. It’s not a huge place so you do feel that outside air. We weren’t very hungry so we ordered a crab cake and duck breast to share. WE CLEARED THE PLATES. They were so good. The crab cakes were crunchy and flavorful. The duck and a ton of flavor and the suace/glaze that was on it was delicious. We were so happy with the 2 dishes we ordered that we decided to go for dessert as well. We ordered the pistachio cake. OMG I could eat a whole loaf of this thing. The cake wasn’t dry, and it went so well with the tart whipped cream. There was a thicker, marshmellowy layer in between the 2 pieces of cake which was also very good.
I would certainly come back again the next time I am in town. Every bite was worth the buck. Highly recommend.
Fig & Ash has everything, attentive staff, divine meals, and a wonderful atmosphere. I only wish I took a picture of the pork belly burnt ends as that stole the crown for the best dish I’ve had all year.
Dishes in the photos are Bavetta Steak and Halibut, both exceptional.
