While we were doing that, multiple other Hispanic customers were inside ordering, paying with cash, and receiving change without any issue. Once we found the $7 and sent him back in with the exact amount, he was then told it would be a 25-minute wait. At that point, it had already been 25 minutes since I initially called in the order.
I stepped in to ask why my boyfriend was being given the runaround. Why were other customers able to receive change if there was supposedly none available? And why did the wait time suddenly double after we questioned the payment situation? The whole interaction felt inconsistent and unfair.
I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but the experience left me feeling like he may have been racially profiled. With everything happening in America right now, this is the last place I would expect to feel uncomfortable or treated differently. Very disappointing experience. Please do better.
Price-wise, it’s a bit on the higher side: $8 for two al pastor tacos that weren’t super filling. My friend had the burrito, which he said was the right size, though at $12, it’s something to consider. He mentioned that the lettuce was pretty bland and could’ve used more sauce, but overall, he still enjoyed it. All in all, a decent spot—unique experience, but a few adjustments could make it even better.
We tried the gorditas, sopes and tacos; all were handmade.
Atmosphere and service were excellent.
