My partner and I stopped by here before going to a show at the Castro Theatre. About 1 hour before doors opened there, there was no wait here which was surprisingly since it’s just a few doors down from the venue. Menu had good variety – hot soups, noodles (hot or cold), salads, and sandwiches. I got the garlic noodles with chicken, which was hot (in temperature) be pretty tasty. My partner and I shared and the portion was perfect for the two of us. He also got a Thai iced tea, which was yummy as well.

A must visit in San Francisco! We had such a wonderful experience dining here that we came back the next day for lunch! The fusion and creativity of the dishes were an absolute highlight to the taste buds!

Steven told us he makes a trip across town to a bakery every morning for the fresh baguettes! Don’t miss out! You’ll thank me!

Server made recommendations as this was my first time trying Vietnamese cuisine. I need to make a trip to Vietnam now. Food was fresh, hot and delicious! Had the fresh spring rolls to start and the lemongrass beef garlic noodles- spectacular! Pity I don’t live in this city, or I’d be there daily.

I asked the young female employee for a spoon, and she said, “It’s in the bag.” I replied, “There are only forks here.” She handed me the spoon, but as she did, she pushed my hand away. It was very disrespectful. And she admitted her mistake and apologized to me. I threw the food straight into the trash. I am also a food delivery driver, and I have previously left a review about the same person at this restaurant. She is a very rude person. If you don’t want to work, you can leave; you don’t deserve the money you’re getting. i think she tought i don’t speak english. that’s why did it . i’m going straight to jack in the box

Easily one of the best Vietnamese sandwiches I’ve ever had. The pork belly banh mi sandwich was amazing and a great value too. The Thai tea was excellent as well.

An overall unpleasant experience. Please take it from an actual Viet person here that this place is neither legit nor authentic. I had the pho with rare steak and meatballs, my partner had the garlic noodles and five spice chicken. Both plates were severely underwhelming and the service we received was rude and off-putting.

The pho broth was not very well spiced and the meatballs tasted…off. I can’t quite describe why they were off, they just were. The tray of sprouts and basil was sparse at best and insulting at worst: 2 thin slices of jalapeno, 1 sprig of basil with 3 leaves on it.

The garlic noodles with five spice chicken was worse. The noodles didn’t taste of any garlic and were drenched in a wet sauce, while the chicken only tasted of char. There was no five spice flavor and there was hardly any salt.

None of the food was particularly bad, but none of it was particularly good. I told my partner before we came that if the food wasn’t good, we never have to come back. After one bite, we both agreed there was no reason to try this place again (to be fair, we’ve both been here before separately, but I had a craving for pho and I didn’t want to go across town.)

The worst part of experience though wasn’t the food, it was the service. We came in at 8:30pm after both working a long 10+ hour day, and they close at 9, which we knew. As soon as we came in, the man at the registered told us “We close in half an hour, so you have to order now” and handed us menus at the counter, forcing us to make our decision right then and there. No table first, no asking if we were dining in or taking out, no offers of water, just an unceremonious and impatient expectation for us to know exactly what we wanted within a minute of walking in. We get it, you close in half an hour, but if you don’t want patrons coming in that late, why bother staying open that late?

Friends, beware. If you’re looking for good Vietnamese food in the city, there are far far better options where dishes are authentic and taste how they’re supposed to, where service is better and staff don’t make you feel unwelcome.

I went to the Vietnamese restaurant, Tanglad for Vietnamese food. The main dish, grilled meat, rice and sliced vegetables, was delicious. Even I was almost full, I ate almost everything including spring rolls. The spring rolls with the special sauce was a perfect combination to enjoy Vietnamese food! You can try it after looking around the Dolores park!

Tanglad is a cute little restaurant in the heart of Castro. They have the main seating area inside and a “garden” section with a plant wall that feels like a cozy indoor patio.

I ordered the Seafood Combo Pho on a rainy day and it hit the spot! The Pho came with shrimp, calamari, imitation crab, fish balls, vegetables and noodles. It was filling and well priced at $16.50 for what it came with. I will say I wish the broth was a bit more flavorful, but it was still very tasty and satisfying.

Healthy and yum.
Especially I like the plate on the picture.
I like it with the meat chicken too.
The balance and combination; The meet and vegetable and rice, very refreshing special sauce, texture while eating
are perfect for me.
It’s never a too heavy for your stomach. I get full and stomach feeling not struggling digesting.

The atmosphere of the restaurant, price, friendly staff.

I always love come here when I travel to SF.

I love this place. It is my go to spot to meet up with my business networking partners. It is central with Muni at the corner. The service is super friendly. The food is wonderful. They opened during COVID and Im happy they made it through. I highly recommended
