My first experience at Jamaican Flavor in Valley Stream, NY was not what I expected.
I ordered a large red peas soup, a large jerk chicken (meat only), a small jerk pork, a slice of Jamaican rum cake, three patties (jerk, spicy beef, and mild beef), and a small rice and peas. The total came to $55.
The customer service was okay—the woman who took my order was pleasant, and I was very specific about what I wanted with each item.
The red peas soup was well-seasoned, and the rum cake was delicious. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience fell short. The jerk pork consisted mostly of skin and was very dry. The jerk chicken was the biggest disappointment—instead of proper jerk chicken, I was served barbecue-style chicken backs, and every piece was a chicken back, which was extremely disappointing. The patties lacked authentic Jamaican flavor, and while the rice and peas were okay, they didn’t stand out.
Overall, this establishment has some work to do, especially considering the price point. I was hoping for a more authentic and satisfying Jamaican food experience.

Ask for a receipt for the items bought, wasn’t able to get one. They made the price out of thin air, meaning discussed it in front of me since they wasn’t trying to sell it without the meat they sold it for same price. Ask to return and wasn’t able to return. 5 dollars for roti bread

This location is usually my favorite for their red peas soup and Pine & ginger juice. Unfortunately, both items were completely watered down and almost tasteless today (12/2/25). I mentioned the juice looking lighter than usual but I was reassured that it wasn’t watered down … wrong ! The soup was edible but definitely looser and almost tasteless in comparison to what they usually produce. Please don’t change the regular cook and or water down you’re products

I live in deer park and I had an appointment in Westbury. On my way home I decided to get some food from here. First off the women attitudes are very nasty. I ordered curry goat and roti and asked to have it separate. They tell me they can’t do it separate. I said I’m not ordering it separately but can you put them in separate containers. I’m Guyanese and we like to tear off the roti and dip it in the curry. They tell me they don’t separate the curry goat and roti but they separate the curry chicken and roti. For the love of God I couldn’t understand the difference. Then she tells me she can put the curry goat to the side and the roti to the side and I said yes. So I paid for the food and got the bag and when I opened it, the food was in the same container. I said this I not what I meant. I want it in 2 separate parcels. She said I don’t make the rules we can’t do it that way. At that time it was rush hour I had to pick my husband up from work then go home and it took me about 1 and half hour to get home and I know by then It’s gonna be soggy and I didn’t want that. Only if they had given me the food first before I paid I would’ve left it right on the counter and keep my money. They don’t care about what the customer wants I don’t care about their business. Simple. Very poor and distasteful service. My husband ate the food and said it wasn’t even good. He felt to throw up after. Everything happens for a reason and the moment she told me that Skunt that was my clue to leave. Btw I ordered patties too and it was the worst I’ve ever had. No lie. Will never go back

They do not sell bone in Jerk chicken enough. The bone in Jerk chicken is what most people request. For some reason they are not making bone in Jerk chicken. Why not provide the customers with what they want. The boneless Jerk chicken is more of a sweet sauce the bone in Jerk chicken is a spicy savory. When asked about it, I was told to contact the manager so I figured I’ll contact Google reviews instead. Zero stars for not taking heed to customers feedback!!

I ordered DoorDash. This is my second time ordering from this location. The first time the food was good. This time it was not. I am very disappointed. I had an oxtail meal. It’s very watery. The gravy is watery. There’s no gravy on the oxtail and it taste funny. I did not realize they closed at 7 PM. Maybe it’s because it was the end of the evening. I don’t know, but very disappointed.

I visited Jamaican Flavors with my wife, and upon arrival, the store was boiling hot with all the heat entering from outside, especially since the store is located so close to the bus stop. I asked why the doors were open, and I was told that if the doors were closed, customers wouldn’t come inside, which is absolutely ridiculous. If your customers aren’t comfortable while shopping, what’s the purpose of doing any business?
Anyway, we ordered two separate meals (a large curry goat and a large curry chicken) and four vegetable patties. As we were preparing to pay for our meal, the customer ahead of us ordered a significant amount of food as well, along with beverages. As hot as the day was, and with the inside feeling like over 100 degrees, the customer requested a cup with ice. I was astonished by what came next. The young lady processing the order charged the customer $1.00 for a cup of ice. That’s when I thought to myself, this is absolutely preposterous. I felt like walking out of the store and canceling our orders, but we didn’t.
The level of customer service at this location on Merrick and Valley Stream is ridiculous. There are so many other competitors in the area; if this continues, I’m sure the restaurant will not survive at this location.

One of the most efficient and friendly Jamaican restaurants I’ve ever been to. I only had that patties on that day and they were phenomenal. Would go there again for sure.

I am happy to see a Jamaican Flavors close to me. I had to check them out. I am happy to tell you the food is as good as the other stores in Springfield. The only issue I had was that the curry chicken ran out. It probably means it’s in high demand. This place is highly recommended.
