I asked for my food to be made fresh, but the lady just scooped it straight from the buffet and tried to tell me it was fresh — like I wouldn’t notice! The rice wasn’t even cooked all the way. Honestly, I could’ve just bought a box of uncooked rice from the store and had the same thing. Totally unacceptable

It continues to puzzle me why this area is so lacking good Chinese food. I mean can we have 10% of what we get in Edison NJ or 1% from Chinatown?  By and large, we get only Americanized Chinese food here.  When I saw “Taipei” in this name, I was so excited because I normally associate “Taipei” with Taiwanese cuisine, nothing to do with Americanized Chinese food.  Then I saw it’s within the Giant Supermarket so my hope dropped. I read the online menu. Yep, all Americanized dishes.  Nevertheless, I made an order anyway because my son was really fussing for fried rice and lo mein.

Upon further research, it turns out this is only 1 of the 5 locations in the Harrisburg area, plus 4 more further away.  I found the stall inside Giant. It doesn’t really stand out as a separate establishment but one of the 3 counters behind the prepared food department (“Meals & Sides”) within the supermarket.  There are cooked dishes displayed under the counter just like Panda Express. So technically, you don’t have to order online but just order on the spot and get your food right away.  I had an opportunity to chat with the staff as it wasn’t busy at the time. They were quite friendly and even offered me a couple of complimentary Chinese donuts.

The food was on par with what I expected for American Chinese dishes, but the serving size was rather generous. For that (the value), the friendliness of its staff, the convenience of its location, and last but not least — the free donuts, I added one star to my rating.  I did grab a copy of their menu and spotted 2 less typical dishes (potentially more authentic kind) that I might want to give a try. So there will be future visits.

Was working late stopped at Giant for some groceries, stopped at Taipei for a meal I tried to communicate with the lady she spoke very poor English I was trying to figure out what she said then she turned her back on me and left me standing there like a fool!!!
I left the store very disgusted and stopped at turkey hill and got 2 hotdogs.
I was left wondering if the Taipei are illegal aliens?

A piece of shaved metal in rice!
Asked for special order item with snow peas not celery and got green peppers!!! A tiny piece of broccoli too. I guess they think anything green works.. IT DOES NOT.
Greasiest shrimp egg rolls I ever had. The grease was dripping off them. Substandard food and service. Get a frozen PF Changs instead of wasting money here!

Went there for the first time Saturday. The lady take our order was talking on her phone through her ear buds. We had to talk so loud for her to hear us the guys stopped working and watched us while we were there. Made us feel uncomfortable but they said nothing to her about talking on her phone while waiting on customers. The bourbon chicken we got was so dry we couldn’t eat it. Please make them aware of how important customer service is. Not a good first experience!

I’ll admit that I was VERY skeptical. Chinese takeout inside a grocery store? It was the best Chinese we’ve had to date in the area. We will definitely be back.

We got the 3 meat special for lunch today $10. It fed 3 people and we only ate half of it. I dont think you will find more portion size or value for your money in this area Food was good. Always friendly staff who go above and beyond. You do not need to order what they have already prepared either for a short wait you can order off the menu.

Just did first takeout at Taipei kitchen in Mechanicsburg. Food is delicious. We got the bourbon chicken, broccoli and garlic sauce and pork fried rice. Each one was really flavorful and well prepared. Wishing them the best for a long business, life and Mechanicsburg.

Usually food hits, but the habachi chicken and chicken from the chicken fried rice was hard as a rock, it’s not edible, unfortunately a waste of money there, however the chicken broccoli was good and the lo mein were good. Please address this issue Taipei Kitchen, you guys are the go-to chinese takeout, don’t let the people down
