The Mill in Crown King, Arizona is an absolute gem! Mike, the owner, was awesome! He was so accommodating and kind. We’re vegan, and he made sure we had something delicious to enjoy. He personally made us an amazing veggie sandwich! You can tell he genuinely cares about his guests and is passionate about food. The patio is so clean and beautifully decorated with the sound of the humming birds and trees flowing in the wind. The location, atmosphere, and service are all 10/10. Always recommend! Dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and just a beautiful spot with great views. A for sure stop everytime we visit CK!
What really made this place special were the details and the atmosphere. We sat outside, surrounded by the pines, which made for a peaceful and scenic dining experience. The patio area is lined with tons of hummingbird feeders, attracting a delightful flurry of hummingbirds and even a striking red-headed woodpecker! The inside of the restaurant is cozy and full of charm, decorated with vintage and antique items that give it a warm, nostalgic feel.
The owners were incredibly friendly and took the time to share the fascinating history of the ore mill and the old machinery used to process and transport ore down the mountain. It was clear they take pride in both the food and the legacy of the place.
All in all, The Mill offers a unique, welcoming experience and is definitely worth a stop if you make the drive up to Crown King.
The food was unreal. Truly homemade, comforting, and plentiful. From the fresh homemade bread to the mac and cheese, chicken tenders, taquitos, brisket, and ribs, they spoiled us nonstop. There was more than enough food, even seconds, and every bite was amazing. You could feel the pride and love behind it.
Great people, great food, and a place that genuinely shows up for its guests. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will absolutely be back. Highly recommend.
We looked around for a bit at all the history embedded into the restaurant , and after that ordered some burgers! That’s the best burger I’ve had in a long time the $15 price tag for the meal is so worth it!!
Matt if you see this , we all had a really great time at your restaurant, also glad we could help with the soda machine malfunction!
Inside, the charm continues with a huge wood stove, an essential comfort on cooler days. At nearly 6000 feet elevation, it’s a quaint escape in the summer, offering a cooler retreat from the sweltering heat below.
However, while the setting and atmosphere are commendable, the culinary experience leaves much to be desired. The food, albeit average, doesn’t quite match the restaurant’s higher ratings. I sampled the pork tacos, which, while flavorful, were disappointingly greasy. The shoestring fries, on a brighter note, were a tasty accompaniment. My companion’s burger, served on toasted sourdough, was also excessively greasy, and lacked in flavor.
In summary, The Mill Restaurant is a picturesque spot steeped in history, perfect for those seeking a rustic ambiance. However, for food enthusiasts, it might be a bit underwhelming. It’s a great reminder that sometimes, the location’s charm and history can overshadow the culinary experience. Worth a visit for the experience, but set your dining expectations accordingly.
