Foodies Delight !

We celebrated our anniversary here. It is all about the food, it is like eating at a friends home full of friends and your host is a 3 Star Michelin chef. It is beautifuly noisy and casual to a fault. The Food, The Food !!! Service was excellent on spot. Wonderfull Cocktails. The Chef came out after our meal at the end of service and chatted us up for 10 minutes, what a joy! After 56 years of celebrating anniversaries this was the best meal of them all (just inching out Mama’s Fish House).

This place has the best food in Canon Beach. The food is interesting, crafted, and delicious. The menu is much more interesting. The staff is also very friendly. The atmosphere is great as well. I highly recommend it, especially for a birthday or date night. The curry dish and lobster bisque are amazing.

There’s nothing better than a welcoming friendly staff in a casual environment, serving perfectly prepared cuisine. The Scallops appetizer was the absolute show stopper!

Omg best meal I have had in a very long time. Had copper river salmon and the green curry prawns. Super delicious. The staff was excellent and helpful. I even got to meet the chef who was a friendly and talented guy.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at this well done restaurant. The service was timely and the chef even came out to make sure we were happy with our food. The spice level of the jambalaya was perfect, just what we ordered. We will stop again!

We have an awesome friend visiting and went sight-seeing. We didn’t plan to eat at Castaways but, there were a surprising number of restaurants that were closed. It turned out to be fortuitous since we loved everything about it. The food was great and everyone enjoyed their respective meals. It was a very hot day so we started with some delicious cocktails.
I don’t know if Meghan is an owner or an employee but, she was working her rear off. She was making drinks, taking food orders and delivering them and, in spite of the heat she took the time to speak with us, make recommendations (and jokes), and, took wonderful care of us.
I highly recommend eating here if you get the chance.

Talented chef with creative menu in a charming, intimate cottage setting. This restaurant is a nice counterpoint to the other food offerings in Cannon Beach. The menu has a Cajun and Carribbean leaning. I enjoyed the Creole Etouffee which was spicy and savory… great for a cool and damp late fall evening 🙂

We enjoy this place every year for our Anniversary and they never fail in serving the best food & experience on the west coast. This is not hyperbole on my part, but I honestly believe that if this restaurant was in a larger town the Chef would easily be at least a James Beard Award winner if not a Star recipient. Reservations are highly suggested because on most nights you’re not dining without one.

This restaurant truly stands the tests of time. The staff and Chef do an amazing job. The food is worth the money. My husband and I have dined here for years and will continue to as long as we can.

Castaways is our favorite place to eat in Cannon Beach, and believe me, we’ve tried nearly all of them over the years. We come out here at least twice a year and never miss an opportunity to enjoy their latest seasonal food offerings and their insane cocktails. My hubby said that tonight’s pork cheek jambalaya was some of the best he’s had since he left New Orleans 25 years ago. (And as odd as it sounds, the smattering of blueberries was a surprisingly successful addition that gave it just a pop of PNW flair.)And my Parmesan crusted petrale sole was also fantastic… crisp, flavorful coating over moist fish, with creamy mashers and crisp/tender fresh veggies. I wouldn’t say it exactly fit in with the “Caribbean/Tiki Bar” theme, but it was delicious and well prepared. And the cocktails more than made up for whatever thematic elements may have been missing in the fish. The Zombie and the Rum Punch were strong, complex and not overly sweet. Add in the excellent service, and Castaways is just the full package.
