The place is amazing when it comes to the food. Its a good place for me and my friends to go grab food during lunch since its across the street. Being across the street though from Jay doesn’t make it seem so appealing. The food is good but the atmosphere is scary. Thugs hang around and the inside is very cramped but at if you go at the right time the food doesn’t take much time.

Hero’s Cafe and Catering,

it is a great staple to the Marbach, and San Antonio area. Although being a common ground for students of the near by John Jay High School. The restaurant is open to all customers.

The interior design of this American burger/food joint is a homage to the ’60s decade, many pictures of vehicles, and olden references, cover the interior. Giving the store that old and gold feeling that is well known to the regular visitors. The older design is a great location for a quick ‘date stop’, especially when stopping for lunch with your spouse, or significant other.

(Remember if you are stopping for a date stop, make sure you get a separate box of fries to take back on the road, they are going to go quickly)

Although being a fantastic location, not all good things last forever, the area is (again to the frequency of school students) subject to bullying, harassment, and foul language (and do not, try to tell students otherwise, they WILL gang up on you).

Also, the location is quite a meet up for the more ‘attractive’ ladies of the school, they are sassy, and have basically no dignity, they will call any ‘mature’ looking guys over for some ‘talking’, if you are called over, DO NOT RESPOND, i repeat, DO NOT WALK OVER TO THEM. You’re better off just being a loner for the rest of your life, then getting a trifecta of Sexually Transmitted Diseases from them.

Aside from the bad things, My personal favorite item, are their seasoned potato fries, it is quite a delicacy, nothing comes close, it goes very well with burgers, barbecue chicken, or the very special (but yet not known of what it is made of) Hero’s sauce. (it is of a orange-tannish color, it’s something that everyone in the store grabs, free of charge if you order fries).

Have fun at Hero’s Cafe & Catering, you will, just do not become STD mountain while you are there

I am a student at john jay ,i go there quite often because the food is actually really good and its very convenient for lunch. However , the costumer service is horrible beyond words can explain. More specifically the older uptight lady at the register . It was really packed as usual , and i went up to order and im looking up at the menu for no more than a minute and the lady says very rudely “do you know what youre getting” i then brushed that off because im understanding and they were in a bit of a rush . then i began ordering a burger as soon as she asked me that , she then asked cheese or bacon with that . i said “just bacon mam ” she repeated herself raising her voice at me saying “CHEESE OR BACON ” i then said bacon in a very stern tone as i had already said to her . she was already beginning to write my order and tear my ticket as soon as that was done when i was going to order more. She then got even more frustrated (for having to do her job) and rolled her eyes and sighed. Also when they call your order number make sure you RUN to your order if not theyll give you attitude when you get there. This has not been the first time AT ALL that i have had her give me and many others a hard time this time im just a little fed up . Students are still PAYING customers and should be treated as such !! The atmosphere in this TINY restraunt is over crowded and kaotic and NOT WELCOMING. TO THE LADY AT THE REGISTER , GO COOK IN THE BACK IF YOU CANT HANDLE THE REGISTER , you are going to raise your voice at the wrong person one day

I had a confusing experience….I wanted a bowl….and in mind a “Bowl” Is lots of rice and meat in a bowl…but I guess at hero’s cafe its more like a salad? I was so confused when they putt two spoon fulls of rice, two spoon fulls of meat, then 1 spoon full of the sated veggies which amounts to about 2 slices of onion and a slice of bell cooked bell pepper… then they asked what veggies I wanted from the sandwich bar? Guess I just can’t imagine having cold pickles and olives and lettuce and tomatoes on my hot rice and meat? …I was just so confused lol. and it was so small…they said people usually get more veggies which is why it was small, but I just could not imagine what veggies that you would put on a sandwich, that you would want on your hot rice?…They were super nice though and remade me something else after I saw what a “Bowl” was and to be honest, there was no way I was going to pay 8 bucks for that. The sandwich turned out alright. I would NOT recommend getting a bowl though lol Its awkward and confusing.
