Good prices great tacos!

We visited for lunch and sat at the picnic tables outside on a warm January day. Our server was great and he quickly took our order and brought out the chips and salsa. Chips were the right amount of salt and salsa was the right amount of spice. Food came out just a few minutes later and all of the tacos were delicious. We especially enjoyed the spicy chicken tacos! We still had about half of our chips left after finishing the salsa so the server brought out another bowl of salsa. After lunch our server even asked if we wanted our water to go. We didn’t but thought that this was thoughtful of him!

The only slightly negative experience we had is that we witnessed a ~30ish year old woman with a baby in her arms at the table next to us be denied ordering 0 proof alcohol by another server (a woman in Hey Dudes) because she didn’t have her license on her. Although we understand that zero proof alcohol requires an ID to be bought in FL, it seemed like that server was on a power trip, especially considering the fact that we noticed not all servers here requested IDs when other tables were ordering actual alcohol.

Parking is a slight annoyance as they have valet, but that’s just a personal preference as I don’t like valeting my car.

Overall a Jax beach staple!

The street corn was delicious!!
We shared the Nacho cheese burger. It had a spicy BBQ on it, oh boy it was spicy, but very good though!!! It was a great dish to share. The guacamole was very creamy and very delicious. The chips and salsa yummy!!! The salsa has a kick to it, so we had to buy some to bring home.

Solid taco spot. A coworker recommended it as he had been there 10 yrs prior but it held up the time and was delicious food. The bang bang shrimp taco was my favorite and wished I had just ordered those but tried some of their other tacos. I know I went on a limb with the brisket taco, it wasn’t bad but there are so many others better to select! The waiter was really pushing their tequila shots, a bit too much there Alejandro. I could hear him push it hard multiple times at each table around me. I get it yall have great tacos and tequila but let them speak for themselves. I recommend swinging in for some tacos for sure!!

The Bangin’ Shrimp Taco, Bangin’ Dilla quesadilla, and Mexican Street Corn all hit the spot with crave-worthy flavor.

Service is always friendly and reliable.

The dining area is compact but fits the theme.

Final take: A reliable favorite for creative tacos and big flavor. Definitely worth repeat visits.

The best tacos I have ever had! Divine!! I was also notably impressed with their mezcal and tequila selections, including the ever elusive Fortaleza. Treat yourself to a neat pour of the añejo, you won’t regret it!

A very busy and popular place. Fun atmosphere with great drinks and delicious food. A great variety of street tacos of all flavors and types. If salsa is fresh as well as the guacamole, with some of the best queso in town. Absolutely recommend.

I formerly lived in Jacksonville, but every trip back I make sure to visit the Lu! Great food! Every visit there I make sure to order one taco, The Carne Royale, which is carne asada, Brie cheese and grape salsa on a flour tortilla, and a quesadilla, The Bangin’ Dilla! Be sure to get the quesadilla Lu style with spinach and street corn! Recommend !

We had such a great experience at TacoLu tonight. We came in for a later dinner and were immediately greeted and seated, which was a great first impression. The tacos were all unique and so good – the Black & Bleu and the Flying Hawaiian were favorites, but everything we tried was great.

As someone with a food allergy, I really appreciated how allergy-friendly the menu is. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen lettuce-wrap options at a Mexican restaurant! Our server, Keller, went above and beyond by double-checking the order and making sure everything was safe.

We were seated toward the back, in a tucked-away spot that felt private and cozy. The decor throughout the restaurant looked authentic and added to the experience.

And then there’s Keller – truly the star of our night. He’s a Florida native who has been with TacoLu for 12 years, and you can tell he genuinely loves what he does. He was welcoming, respectful, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He made great recommendations, kept our drinks filled, and checked on us so consistently that we never once had to ask for anything. Our daughter said it perfectly: “everyone was nice but Keller was the best – we must have talked with him for at least 30 minutes because he was just that fun and friendly.”

When it came time for the bill, he told us he’d be right back, and unlike most places where that means a long wait, he returned in seconds with the check and card reader. Amazing service from start to finish! Keller shared that he dreams of living in Colorado one day, and with his warmth and energy, he’ll be fantastic anywhere he goes.

We were visiting from out of the area, and this ended up being a highlight of our trip. We wish we had this restaurant, and Keller, back home. If you go to TacoLu, you have to ask for Keller. You won’t regret it. ✨

Other than our waitress being quite uneducated on beer names, happy hour specials and other menu related things- we had a great experience. Carnitas and shrimp tacos were a favorite. The tuna was bland and wouldn’t get that again. Chips, salsa and queso were also great.
