The Indian food that shines. Exquisite quality and refine taste. Lamb curry is so tender like no others. Salmon tandoori is a real big portion and taste authentic. Will come back

This is hands down my favorite restaurant. I have been coming here almost monthly for the entire time I’ve lived in the city (~2 years) and can now report that I have sampled most of the menu and you simply cannot go wrong here. Just about every dish leaves my mouth buzzing with flavor. The owner and staff are so kind, and always say hi and remember us and ask how we’re doing and we get to catch up on life a little whenever we drop by. We often bring friends and family and whether we order enough or not they’re so generous with extra portions and always remember our favorite dishes. It feels like home.

Some personal favorite menu items:
shahi paneer: a creamy, paneer-based ambrosia.
Bhindi masala (okra!), mushroom matar, either of the chili momos, the tenderest rogan josh (Kashmiri lamb) I’ve ever had, the most amazing butter chicken I’ve had in my life, perfectly cooked salmon curries, and I always recommend onion kulcha (onion-filled naan) because it’s so tasty. All of their deserts are delicious too.

They are extremely responsible and accommodating with food allergies and diets; there are many gluten-free and dairy-free/vegan options on the menu to start with and the staff are always willing to work with people on finding items they can eat. I would genuinely recommend this restaurant to anyone and I’m so glad it’s been a part of my life these past few years (and hopefully many, many more).

I had an amazing experience at this Nepali restaurant! The food tasted fresh, flavorful, and truly authentic – especially the momo and dal bhat. The staff were very friendly and made me feel at home. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, just like being back in Nepal. I’ll definitely come again and recommend it to anyone who wants to try real Nepali food!

Rose is truly a gem, where the hospitality is only outdone by the quality and consistency of their food. My wife and I have been coming in for the last 6 months and have developed excellent rapport with the staff, they take great care for my gluten allergy and we always walk away discussing what we’ll try next! This place feels like an extension of home, and we’re so fortunate to have been adopted into their extended family. Make sure not to miss an opportunity to dine at Rose, a true institution of the SF Bay Area.

Dennis is an exceptional host, the busser as well, our waters were filled often, and the food was deliciously unique. Ive had many variations of Rogan Josh and Biryani and these were among my favorite.

Very unique spice profiles. I liked the sliced ginger addition to the Rogan Josh. Even if one already has a favorite Indian spot. They should surely give Rose a try.

I went for a birthday dinner celebrating my partner and we were a food sensitive, time restrictive, six person loud group. Rose’s has an extensive vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free menu! They boasted that almost any vegetarian curry could be made vegan and they were very clear about dishes that didn’t contain gluten or cross contamination. We ordered a lot of food and dishes, had a few people order late due to traffic, and watched the restaurant go through what we later learned was 120 orders between take out and dine in. We had to leave about an hour in and hadn’t gotten food aside from appetizers so the host allowed us to convert things to take out and come back for them later. They were so understanding and we were expecting push back but they were incredibly apologetic. We came back about 2 1/2 hours later and our food was hot, they let us have a table again, they even remade the naan and let us take home the extras! Then they brought out free rice pudding as a thank you for patience (which we totally didn’t expect because we were the ones being inconvenient) and then when we sang happy birthday to my partner they quickly brought out vegan ice cream with a candle and sang! Above and beyond, a night we won’t forget and hospitality that came from extremely passionate people. Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness and patience with our big birthday group <3. We split the bill between four people and it was only about $40-$50 each which is absolutely so shocking for the volume of food we ate! Everything was delicious, their specialty naan are all wonderful, and they've got some excellent fusion items too. Go outside your normal order for this place; you'll be absolutely amazed.

Absolutely amazing experience at Rose India Restaurant! The momos were huge, juicy, and packed with flavor — honestly the best I’ve had compared to many Indian and Nepali restaurants I’ve visited.
The chicken curry was delicious and the portion size was generous, easily enough for two people. The naan was long and unique, something I’ve never seen before, and it tasted incredibly fresh and soft.
The staff and owner were very welcoming and provided excellent service from start to finish. Honestly, this spot surprised me in a good way. The food actually tastes like real homemade Indian food, not watered down or overly sweet like some places do. The curry had good spice and flavor, and the naan was fresh and soft. Will definitely be back

This family run Indian restaurant has become my go-to spot in San Francisco, and it truly is the best I’ve found in the city. After trying many different places over the years, this is the one I always return to.

Most people are surprised when I tell them the chicken chow mein here is incredibly good. I never expected to prefer chow mein from an Indian restaurant over a Chinese one, but I genuinely do. Whenever I crave it, this is the only place I want it from because it’s consistently delicious.

I usually order the butter chicken, the lamb curry, and a side of garlic naan. The portions are generous, and one of my favorite things about eating here is knowing I’ll almost always have leftovers for the next day. The food reheats beautifully, so it’s like getting a bonus meal.

I recently brought my mom here while she was visiting from out of town, and she said it was the best Indian food she has ever had. My grade school aged child also loves this place and calls it his favorite restaurant, which says a lot.

The owner is always kind and welcoming, and you can really feel the personal care that comes with a truly family run spot.

If you’re looking for reliably great Indian food in San Francisco, this is the place I recommend every time.
