I have been trying different Mountain Dew exclusives and we were a bit hungry, so we decided to split a Chicken Little Combo and get Mountain Dew Sweet Lightning.
The store was super clean and the interior was fresh and crisp.
Everyone was nice and friendly.
We had placed a mobile order and we went in to pick it up.
The air conditioning temp was perfect. I felt a tad hot before entering KFC and immediately when inside I felt a soothing coolness. Sometimes, air conditioning can feel like walking into a refrigerator unit. KFC air conditioning temperature was refreshingly cool.
We picked up our order and I immediately tried the Mountain Dew Sweet Lightning. I liked it. Mountain Dew with peach and honey flavor. It went well with our food.
The chicken sandwich was very tasty. I commented that I thought it was better than Chick-fil-A.
The pickles and sauce (mayo? – it tasted more flavorful than regular mayo) were very good. The chicken was crispy and the condiments gave the sandwich the right amount of flavor and moisture without overpowering the chicken nor making a sloppy mess.
The fries were equally tasty!
It could not have been better.
Very tasty and filling.
Asked for cooked to order food and was given food that was so rock hard and inedible, it could have broken teeth. When I returned the food to be remade, was met with hostility and snide remarks. (I wasn’t born yesterday.)
The chicken cook is extremely rude and racist (yes, I heard you say that.) and the language used among staff is loud and the profanity is thick. Do not bring your family here, especially children. Would give 0 stars if I could.
Yes, this was on 1 visit. Not the only time it has happened here and with the same people. The area in general all seem to have the same work standards. Work ethics do not exist here.
Came in on a 2nd visit to pick up some wings, store closed at 10pm, this was around 9pm and was told they were out of wings and refused to cook anymore. Came back in the next day and mentioned it to the manager in charge and I was told that they stop cooking food at 9pm. Let’s say I was surprised by such a response. Imagine having a chicken restaurant that is out of chicken. Honestly though, this has been an ongoing issue no matter what time of day it is. Be prepared to wait for at least 30 minutes for anything. Including having your order even taken. Good luck getting acknowledged that you are even in the lobby.
Don’t even get me started with waiting for your Doordash order to be ready for delivery as a driver. Drive-thru and front counter take priority here. So far every single order I have picked up from here has been late.
Lobby is filthy. All the tables are dirty and the fountain drink area is flooded with overflowing trash everywhere. No lids available. The bathrooms were equally as disgusting. Urine on the toilet and floor, broken toilet seat, overflowing trash.
Do not ever order the pot pies. It is automatically a 20 minute wait.
The new manager said he was going to clean the store up. We’ll see about that.
Despite explaining this, the staff at my local KFC refused to accommodate my request multiple times. On one occasion, they simply said “no” without even giving me an explanation. It was incredibly frustrating and disheartening, especially when you’re just trying to feed your child.
I eventually gave up and drove to the next town over to the KFC in Lynchburg. The difference was night and day. The manager there was extremely friendly and helpful, and even informed me that they can cook additional dark meat if needed, especially if it’s early in the day—which it was. They were happy to assist and made me feel heard and respected.
It’s a shame that the local store couldn’t show even a fraction of that courtesy. I expected better customer service, especially after clearly explaining the situation multiple times. Until there are some serious changes, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. I will not be supporting or spending money at a restaurant who refuses to make accommodations for a child with autism or any disability. Especially when it’s simply means cooking a few more pieces of chicken around 4:00 when you close at 10:00.
