Planet Pizza—Where Family Recipes Still Mean Something
Had to meet my family in New Jersey and ended up waiting at Planet Pizza. I count myself lucky I did.
This is a family-run restaurant that serves up a menu chalked with delicious options. I got the Philly cheesesteak, Minestrone, and Pasta Fagioli soups, and man…they were all fantastic.
The Philly cheesesteak was exactly what you want it to be: tender meat, melted cheese, perfectly griddled onions, and a roll that actually held up under the weight of everything. No frills, just executed right.
The soups, though—that’s where this place really showed its hand. Both the Minestrone and Pasta Fagioli had that unmistakable quality of recipes passed down through generations. The kind of depth and balance you only get when someone’s grandmother taught them how to layer flavors over hours, not minutes.
This isn’t food that can be mass-produced or replicated by a corporate test kitchen. This is the real deal: ingredients treated with care, dishes made the way they’re supposed to be made, and flavors that taste like they’ve been refined over decades.

If you’d like a simple no frills classic pizza that is reliable go here. The slice is huge and 3.75, men at the register are attentive, friendly, and fast. I order one slice warmed up. Took a bite in the car and it was tasty. My bf also took a bite and confirmed good spot. The atmosphere was quiet and they have a bathroom. The bathroom was typical pizzeria bathroom. Go here it’s good

The BEST pizza place! I stopped by on my way to Connecticut from North Carolina. It was so good that I took a 2 hour detour to stop here again on the way back home. The crust is perfectly baked. They offer a wide variety of toppings, and it’s evident the staff take pride in their craft. From the location, you can walk around the pond or choose to take the food to go. Highly recommend!

I recently had an issue with an online order due to a scheduling mix-up, but I’m so impressed with how Planet Pizza handled it. The owner personally called me to explain the situation and offered to make my order right away. That kind of customer service is rare these days, and it really stood out to me.

My husband and I are native New Yorkers and are no strangers to a NY pizza joint. We just moved up here and haven’t had much luck with finding descent pizza until now! I chose to go here because of the menu. It looked like the closest style menu that I could find to Long Island. Mostly Italian American options, lots of classic dishes, and not to much messing about with food choices that simply don’t belong at a NY pizza place. The regular slice was perfect….exactly what you want in a NY slice. Very thin, but holds together. Not too much sauce. A slight char on the bottom crust. It came to the table piping hot which was great! I ordered the eggplant parm hero and it was exactly how I love it.. Very thinly sliced eggplant, not breaded….just flour, egg, and fry. This is perfect b/c without breadcrumbs, it doesn’t become a soggy mess. Perfect amount of sauce and cheese. Perfect amount of filling compared with the hero. Now I feel confident ordering more dishes next time.
