It was delicious!
Never had Mutton before & never heard of the soup/stew they make with it in it.
I had to ask what it all was.
But we tried it… all of it… and it was outstanding.
All of the food was absolutely delicious.

The food here is delicious!
We had the buffet, and lemme say, they got enough on there to satisfy your hunger.
Everything we tried was delish!
It was very crowded when we went (Saturday lunch), and the area we sat had a lot of sound, land it didn’t travel well. But after some of the guest left it quieted down considerably and it was much more enjoyable.
Parking is plenty. It is hidden in an entrance, so you can’t see it from the road.
Lots of seating, lots of choices.

Heard nothing but good things about this place so we had to see for ourselves. I was not impressed in any way. The meat was dry. Everything needed a ton of salt and pepper. The decor was absolutely depressing and it was very dimly lit. I had a fully loaded plate and didn’t eat most of it. Paid for the buffet and never went back up after my first uneaten plate.

Wife and mother-in-law ate inside at the restaurant and got me the $20.99 Large BBQ Pork Ribs Plate to-go. After delivering it all the way back to Bowling Green, I re-heated the ribs and then found the 2 tiny cups of BBQ sauce which had maybe 2 tsp of sauce in each. Far less than half full (see pics). The ribs aren’t as good as Old Hickory to begin with, but shorting me on the least expensive product they had to provide was extremely disappointing. I had to add my own from a big box store-bought bottle just to cover the ribs.
I’ve always been disappointed with the overhyped Moonlight BBQ. Maybe their mutton is amazing, who knows but I’m not into smoked lamb. Everything else lacks. Their mashed potatoes and gravy was middle of the road, and their BBQ baked beans taste like they came from Kroger. Don’t waste your time or money on this overhyped BBQ joint.

Meh. I really wanted to like this place because it has a 4.5 rating overall. But the food was meh. We ordered the combo plate to share. The mutton was pretty good! Moist and tender. Same for the pork. But the brisket was dry and tough. And even though it has a smoke ring, there was almost no smoke flavor.
I was hoping for some great southern BBQ, but I’ll pass on this place.

People talked so highly about this place, so I drove almost three hours to experience it.
Customer service was fantastic, the waitress was sweet, polite, pretty great.
Food it’s what I like to call “geriatric”.
Nothing special,some of the meat was very dry. I really wanted to like this place, I was rooting for it. But no, unfortunately I’m not interested in coming back.

I haven’t been here for along time. Atmosphere was nice and the buffet price was very reasonable. I didn’t care for the BBQ and meats but the macaroni and cheese was Delicious. The broccoli casserole was good . Salad bar has limited toppings but it was ok. Service was ok. If u haven’t tried moonlite bbq u should try it and see what u think. I think it is over rated but this is just my opinion.

We stopped in at the Moonllite Bar-B-Q Inn in Owensboro Kentucky because we had heard a lot of good things about them. And the salad bar vegetables and deserts were good the Mutton was okay but nothing special. I did like the pork . The service was very good and the atmosphere was good . The Bar B Q was okay at best. And when I received instant mashed potatoes I was extremely disappointed. And me and my Son both confirmed that they were instant. I wasn’t impressed and I will say the Banana Pudding and the Broccoli Casserole were awesome. Overall I wouldn’t give a high recommendation. It didn’t live up to the hype.

Absolutely LOVE coming home to Owensboro. Always a stop and this last visit, we also came back for the Sunday brunch… So good!! And I always bring mutton back home to last until my next visit!!! Service is always friendly and fast!
