I met my wife here 33 years ago, so I thought I would bring her back here for our anniversary. The place did not disappoint. After being seated in a spacious dining room with wall to wall dated artifacts of Flagstaff’s golden era, we were provided with an ample menu. The place now features a couple of full bars with plenty of things to do. Gone is the hostel, turned into a rather swanky historical B&B experience.

I asked for recommendations, and the server showed her knowledge of the menu. We went with the Navajo Taco and the birria tacos – both were outstanding. The birria tacos were as good as anything you could find on an LA taco truck, which is a gastronomic zenith for taco snobs. This Navajo taco topped the one we had out in Monument Valley, by far. This was an outstanding stop – excellent staff, beautiful surroundings, and wonderful food. Its great to see that some things may change, and do so for the better. Highly recommend.

We found Charly’s because I was looking for a place that served French Onion soup – and it did not disappoint! The broth was rich and salty (which I prefer over sweet), loaded with onions, and perfectly done cheese. **chef’s kiss** Others in my party enjoyed the Bartenders (chicken tenders), which were nicely battered and juicy, and the fried shrimp. Both came with generous portions of waffle fries. There were enough options for all tastes and ages. Our server, Zack, was also excellent! Heads up, since this is a restaurant at a historic hotel, they do add “historic preservation ” fees to the bill. That was new for me… All in this was a great place to eat and would definitely recommend.

Found out about this hotel and restaurant from our underground tour and came back to try it out. They had fun custom drinks that were delicious. We had the French onion soup and house salad for starters but were very good. We also had the broken hearted chicken pasta overall was good but lacked some flavor. It is a historical building and so fun to look at. Server was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend for cocktails for sure.

The service was ok, but the food and drinks were terrible. We ordered drinks, two beers and a manhattan. They said the bar was a little backed up, which we get, but we ate our entire meals and still No drinks. The table next to us came while we were eating our apps and got the cocktails right away.

We never saw our waiter again, no refills on waters or checking in on the food. Water glasses were empty since we had gotten our appetizers. We grabbed a waitress walking by asking about our drinks and she said the bar was busy. We mentioned how the tables around us had gotten theirs and we were done our meals so to just cancel the drinks. About 4 minutes later, drinks came out as we are about to ask for the check. We said we canceled them but would take them so they weren’t wasted. He said they couldn’t give drinks for free, so we said how about they just take off an app to cover it. We were really looking forward to trying the local beer. They said they couldn’t do that and were going to poor them out.

When the bill came, the 20% was already added to the bill. I ordered a French dip sandwich. The waiter asked me if I wanted peppers and the cheese on the sandwich. I said yes assuming this was a normal
question to ask. They charged me extra for these items on my sandwich.

When we wanted to talk to the waiter more about our experience and if he could talk to the manager about our situation, he was dismissive and walked away as soon as the bill was paid.

We dined in the bar area with the kids for dinner, maybe around 6 or so. It was a great experience, our waitress was very attentive with our orders. I could see how this is a fun local, music venue. The food was great too, we would definitely come back.

Teresa and I shared the Fish and chips, French onion soup, and grilled corn. The French onion soup was one of the best I’ve had. The top bread was grilled crunchy before being added to the top of the soup and broiled either cheese. That gave it a crunchy chewy texture instead of mushy that comes with most French onion soups. Also loaded with onions. Delicious. The fish was flaky and meaty. The batter was slightly heavy but had a nice crunch to it. cole slaw was a bit over dressed but had a nice refreshing flavor that paired well with the fish. The grilled corn was sweet with a touch of spice. Sydney, our waitress was as sweet as could be and gave us the perfect amount of attention. Overall, a great dining experience. Charley’s is found inside the Weatherford Hotel but has a nice outside dining area.

Pretty good place to eat. The restaurant was clean, the food was good and the service was friendly. Nothing extraordinary about this place, more like bar food but in a cool atmosphere. I’d go again, because why not.

Party of 10 w/reservation at 7pm. Sat quickly, waitress did well considering our group size. Not impressed W/ANY of the food French onion soup was lukewarm at best and onions were crunchy (not cooked thru). Broken hearted chicken is a sad dish. Noodles are soggy and sauce is somewhat sour due to artichoke hearts maybe ‍♀️ Steak was sub par. Pazoli came out lukewarm and had to be sent back to be “nuked. To top it off they were out of fries so we had to pay $1.50 ea for an upgrade to onion rings or sweet potatoes. Asked for the sauerkraut on the side for the Rueben but it was on the sandwich when served (we just ate it anyway as w/the onion soup). Will not be back unfortunately We were excited to try this place cuz a patron from the night before told us it was so good. Also not ONE time were any of us asked how our food was!!! Just sooo disappointed Then did not give any of us (5 checks) a pen to sign the bill/ticket duhhhhhh

Enchiladas tasted ok, but we’re extremely salty. Pinto beans seemed slightly under cooked. Spanish rice was ok, nothing to write home about
Server was attentive and friendly.

The only reason this gets a 2 star review is the wait staff. This bar blows. The main projector is misaligned to the most brutal of ways. Ordered a brownie desert. It was delivered like the underside of a charcoal grill. The drinks were alright but terribly unbalanced. Wait staff was nice…
