We were in the SouthPark Mall area and originally planned to dine somewhere else, but at the last second we switched it up.

The moment we walked into Kid Cashew, it felt like home. From what we experienced, everyone, from the hostesses to the servers to the managers, were genuinely kind and welcoming. No snobbery here, just good people making and serving delicious, fresh eats.

And let’s talk about the food: we tried the trout with creamy white beans, lamb gyro, the octopus, the Caesar salad, and an incredible avocado dish. And with each bite, the flavors truly burst! If Anthony Bourdain were around today, I’m convinced this would be a place he’d seek out. I can picture him sitting at the bar, just like we did, enjoying a beer while waiting for a table.

A heartfelt thank you to Summer for her hospitality, and a special nod to our delightful server, Mariana.

And if you’re wondering how Kid Cashew got its name—the owner once owned a goat. How cute is that?

Happy Exploring

After becoming stranded in Charlotte due to the winter storm, we embarked on a culinary adventure and discovered Kid Cashew, a Mediterranean restaurant. The establishment’s namesake originates from the owner’s childhood pet goat. We were impressed by the menu’s diverse offerings. I opted for the quinoa-stuffed avocado and shrimp with polenta as starters, both of which were delectable, and concluded with the lamb burger as my main course, which was exceptional. My partner began with the spicy feta starter and subsequently ordered the quinoa-stuffed avocado after sampling mine. For their main course, they selected the salmon, which was expertly prepared. I also indulged in the Pearadise Margarita mocktail. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu and strawberry shortcake, which were both excellent and the perfect ending to a really amazing dinner. Overall, our dining experience was outstanding, and we departed with full bellies, eager to return.

We arrived at 1pm on a Saturday. We sat at the bar. The place was full. Our bartender Brittney was friendly and helpful. My wife and I like to get appetizers and share them rather than get entrees. We got the Stuffed Avocado and the Mac and Cheese. The Avocado came out in a few minutes. Excellent to split. It was awesome. I know about the legendary Mac and Cheese because my work place often caters from Kid Cashew. Imagine a large tray of baked Mac and Cheese. The Mac and cheese did not disappoint. We will be back to try and split other appetizers. The parking lot was full we were lucky to get a spot.

The service was fantastic. The food was equally incredible. This is in my top three favorite restaurants in the country. Absolutely incredible. This is a must!

Let me start with the main positive — the cuisine here is truly outstanding. The Italian dishes are prepared at the highest level, and I especially want to highlight the salmon — it was simply wonderful, perfectly cooked. The food here is some of the best I’ve tried.
However, there are significant downsides that seriously detract from the experience:
Service: Unfortunately, the waiter was not very attentive or efficient. We had to wait a long time to place our order or request anything additional.
Atmosphere: The restaurant is extremely, extremely loud. The noise level is so high that it’s practically impossible to have a conversation — you literally have to shout for your companion to hear you.
I’m giving five stars solely based on the hope that the food quality, which is truly exceptional, speaks for itself. But if I were rating the overall experience, it would be a solid three stars. I’d recommend this place for those willing to put up with the noise and less-than-stellar service for the sake of excellent food.

This place is awesome. My wife is the picky one between us. We almost never go to the same place more than once, let a lone she request to go back to a restaurant, but she loves this place. We say it 5 star dining with casual atmosphere. Oh and most important its not to hard on the wallet. Now back to it. Their food has great flavor, it comes out when its done so it’s hot (great for parents with littles), their drinks are fantastic( I’m a whiskey drinker so this is bias, but best drink is the smoked whiskey or any wine that is not from the USA).

This place is different and delicious. I went with my bookclub for dinner. Kevin was fantastic! He made sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing. We mac and cheese, salads, meatballs, gyro, rotisserie chicken, chicken and avocado sandwich. All of the dishes were great. I will definitely go back so I can try more from the menu.

AMAZINGGG! First time here on a date night I had the length burger with the gluten free bunn,Asparagus pita abs hummus and my wife ordered the chicken. The green sauce it comes with is like a cilantro base which was so good with the chicken. A little over cooked tho. The lamb burger was the start of the show!!! I would highly suggest aling with the Mocktails the mule with the ginger beer and jalapeño and strawberry if you into that and the lavender lemon with bitters mocktails

I have been going to Kid Cashew for about 3 years. It is a go to place when visiting Charlotte area. The food is outstanding a 10 of 10. The Service has also been excellent. The atmosphere is very casual, if you want a padded seat you have to look as the many chairs are different. The outside seating is very popular and pet friendly. I love the Shrimp polenta OMG the best. The roasted beets are always on the healthy yet seasoned to perfection. The Lamb burger is such a great alternative to same ole beef… The lunch specials are great value for what you get. I have to mention the Mac n Cheese is creamy with lots of cheese flavors. This is the kind of food that I often order extra to go…

Our first time at Kid Cashew. We learned of this place as it was featured on the CLT Burger Week page. Too bad we missed it as our burger week stop, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Happy Hour specials.

Our table having two shareables, a beer, a margarita, and a $6 kids meal that includes their drink, our total was $30! The Brussel Sprouts alone are worth another visit. My daughter had the Mac and cheese and chips. The Mac and cheese was pretty good, always nice when it’s not blue box for kids. We’ll definitely be back, as I am excited to bring an appetite and explore the menu.

The service was just okay. Not horrible by any means, but not exceptional either. The restaurant inside has a bit of grime just a layer of it, everywhere. It’s a bit of the aesthetic, but I also think it is a bit too authentic, if you know what I mean.
