There is always a story behind every good taco. The story behind ours goes back to 2010 in Austin, Texas where the mobile food truck scene was alive and thriving. That experience inspired us to bring our inspirations back with us to The Rock. In 2012 we purchased what used to be a filling station, built in 1960, in the heart of Little Rock. The mission was to take that experience and mold it with inspiration from cantinas in Mexico. The designs were carefully selected to bring guests We revamped the entire space and when you enter The Fold you are met with bright colors, vivacious dishes and a staff excited to make your family and friends our family and friends.
Bright & trendy taqueria in a converted gas station, with cocktails & modern takes on Mexican fare.

The whole place has a cool, young, with-it vibe, a kind of I’m so cool that I can’t be bothered with pretending to be friendly and polite vibe. Maybe as an older person, I expect a sort of non-brusque, authentic and human, approach from people with whom I interact in a public setting. And maybe increasingly younger folks are not socialized to see things this way.
What’s good about the Fold, the sometimes iffy reception and lack of politess in employees set to the side, is the food. The salsa roja is top-notch, loaded with cilantro and blessedly free of the sweeteners with which some Tex-Mex places not far from the Fold love to load their salsa.
We had brunch today, and I found my plate of chilaquiles not bad but also not great. There are better chilaquiles to be found locally than these, which are on the dry side. The huevos rancheros my spouse enjoyed were, however, first-rate. We both thought so.
It was a warmish but not hot April day, a breezy one, and sitting outside on the patio was very pleasant. This is another plus of the Fold, the ample outdoor seating at tables not crammed too close together.
The service was impeccable – friendly, attentive staff added to the overall positive experience. The drinks were a highlight, with a diverse selection that complemented the flavors of the dishes. My wife raved about the beef tamales, and my shrimp, catfish, and peach pastor tacos were a delightful fusion of flavors.
The street corn botanas were a standout – a must-try for their unique and delicious blend of tastes. The Fold is not just a culinary gem but also kid-friendly, offering a dedicated menu for the little ones.
The Fold in Little Rock provides a memorable dining experience with its great atmosphere, delicious food, attentive service, and fantastic drinks. Despite the slightly higher prices, the overall quality makes it a worthwhile indulgence. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a satisfying culinary adventure in Little Rock.
The lemonade was delicious but that was where the flavor stopped.
The guacamole was bland and almost flavorless.
The tamales were very spicy but also without flavor. The rice and black beans were the worst and were absolutely disgusting and tasted like no salt beans straight from the can.
Beautiful restaurant and presentation but they need a new chef
Service was attentive without being overbearing
Great spot and wishes we’d come sooner !
Staff were relaxed, helpful, and fast. We had several people help us instead just a single waiter, and that kept our water glasses full and our chips topped off.
We had nothing that wasn’t fantastic. My steak burrito was as good as the staff promised it would be. My wife’s beef tenderloin tamales were just as good. One kiddo tried bison for the first time and really liked its spiciness. My youngest ordered the chicken quesadilla, and it’s smoked chicken made that the best quesadilla I’ve probably ever tasted.
Prices are pretty high. A glass of In-House lemonade is $5. With chips and queso as an appetizer, our four meals, and a shared order of churros, the four of us paid about $110, including me much-deserved 20% tip.
