It is a small place, gets busy around peak time, and the service staff is usually kind and friendly. I’ve always received food that is fresh, clean, decently priced. My staples are – pork soup dumpling, chicken soup dumpling, scallion pancake (although this is pretty oily), noodles (no gluten free options yet)
I will continue visiting this place everytime I am here.
If this is how the areas customers can see look, I can only imagine what the kitchen and the parts we can’t see are like.
Won’t be coming back.
The atmosphere is decent, clean. Yet there was some smell that I couldnt help but notice.
The food was meh to be honest. I have had better dumplings as well as stir fried noodles. Inspite of being chicken soup dumplings, the dough was on quite thicker side and no chicken filling as such. Same was the case with stir fried noodles. Not worth the price in my opinion. Just a quick bite if you’re in hurry.
Noticed this NY-based chain expanding across East Coast cities but never got around to trying it until recently. After ordering it as a late-night snack, I immediately wished I’d discovered it sooner. I’ve ordered twice so far, and every dish I tried has been packed with flavor. The quality was way better than that of typical takeout Chinese restaurants, and more importantly, the prices were surprisingly affordable. My favorites were the Scallion Oil Noodles and the Wontons in Spicy Peanut Sauce, but their beef & pepper noodles and pork soup dumplings were also on par with what I would expect from an authentic Chinatown restaurants. Will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu.
Favorites: Scallion Oil Noodles, Wonton in Spicy Peanut Sauce
Solid: Pork Soup Dumplings, Shredded Beef & Pepper Noodles, Pork Chop Rice bowl
These are pretty damn good soup dumplings.
They are small and the dough is a bit thicker than one might expect, but it does make it easier to pick them up with chopsticks without breaking the skin and wasting the delicious soup. I ordered two sets, the classic house dumplings (which I got the previous week) and the spicy beef soup dumplings. Both were very good. Of the two I preferred the spicy option (though it wasn’t particularly spicy). I will say it was a mistake getting two orders as I barely had room for the second batch.
The atmosphere is perfunctory, functional and clean though both times I chose to eat outside as it was a beautiful day.
For me, right now, they serve the best soup dumplings I’ve had in Chinatown and I think at this point I’ve explored all the other options. Small but very delicious. I’ll be spending the month working in the Common and I’m pretty sure this is going to be my go to restaurant for a good quick bite.
