Bolley’s Famous Franks in Hallowell, Maine is one of my favorite stops for classic comfort food. The hot dogs and fries are excellent, and you can’t go wrong with their housemade donuts, burgers, or onion rings. The food is always fresh, the portions are generous, and the staff keeps things friendly and fast. It’s the kind of casual local spot that makes Maine dining special. If you’re near 38 Water Street in Hallowell, ME, do yourself a favor and stop in—highly recommended!

Loved this for a quick lunch! The fries and chicken tenders were excellent – fresh and crispy. The hot dog wasn’t anything spectacular but it’s a good old-fashioned hot dog… Hits the spot. I also had a molasses donut which had amazing flavor but was saturated in oil. Not sure if that was a one-off thing but I will give it another try.
Visit: October 2023.

Wicked good hotdogs! Probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Fries are also awesome! I’m not too big a fan of coleslaw usually, but this was done properly and was quite refreshing. I will be going back here quite often 🙂

Bolley’s happened to reopen on my birthday and we decided to give it a try, which we did not regret!

The staff were very friendly, handed us a menu right away and took the time to explain the different types of hotdogs that were available, even though there was a lot going on.

We went with the regular hotdogs and onion rings + sweet potato fries on the side. Everything was great, but in my opinion the onion ring batter was lacking some spice or seasoning to make it even better.

Unfortunately, all the donuts were already sold out for the day, so I will have to try that another time.

The dining area and restroom were very clean and there are a lot of parking spaces available.

Everything considered, Bolley’s is definitely a place worth visiting.

The way donuts should be! Crisp edges and just the right sweetness touch of nutmeg. The haddock sandwich was delicious with a decent amount of fresh cut fries. I’ll definitely be back!

Great fast food, but check with your doctor! The food and service is great! But over eating of anything, well it’s good and clean. I’d like to go everyday, but I’m not a young man anymore!!! Check it out!

We went to Bolley’s on a whim this morning. I have had their donuts before at work and I thought they were fantastic. We really went in there for a donut, well I had 2 and a small breakfast, 2 eggs and Texas toast. My wife had coffee and a honey glazed donut. She said the donut was really good, not too cakey or too dense. I had to agree with that assessment mine were the same. The Texas toast was soft and fluffy. The eggs were done perfectly. We will end up back there to try a hot dog, since that is what they are known for. My wife thought they should offer a hotdog in a donut bun. I would devour that and come back for more. They do close for the season, so if you are in Augusta before Dec. 1st try them out, you won’t be disappointed. Small dining room, but if it’s nice outside there is plenty of outdoor seating.
