Would never go back! Bartender was super loud, made no conversation at all. Small place and their bin under the sink where the bottles go was so loud when she dropped them in, it was startling! My ears hurt sitting there, I couldnt wait to leave! Ordered french fries with my burger as they didn’t come with my burger, and they were grease logged and limp, could not eat them! She took them off of my bill, but never apologized for it. Said she took them off the bill because I didn’t eat them. She did offer me a different kind of FF, but I had two bites left of my burger. She would have known sooner if she would have even asked how our food was. Bar stools are all tore up and service was poor. Our burgers were delicious however, and the cook brought us our food. The bar tender didn’t bring us napkins and condiments until after we had our food. Usually when you order food from somewhere they bring all of that to you after you order! Hope she has a day job! No Tvs on woth sports or anything in the place, they played oldies on a TV, and felt awkward with nothing to look at.

So ive ordered food a few times now for pick up. But depending on who’s cooking depends on the quality of the food.
After today wont order again. I shouldn’t have to ask who’s cooking first to known if its worth ordering. Fish tacos…. If the right person is cooking delicious. Today fish thrown on a tortilla that’s it!!! But the biggest disappointment was pork belly burnt ends! $6 for nothing!!!!! Said something to the owner and met with nothing but excuses. Zero help or compensation. See pictures for the portions you get for Chicago prices!!!

The Real Logus
I have been to the Dark Horse a few times over the past year and it is almost always perfect. Since the New Year, it is currently batting 1000. The Pizzas, sides, and sandwiches are great, I hear the drinks are always at least as good as expected. Most recently, I had the cod sandwich and it was great. The cod was the best piece of beer-battered cod I have ever had and the only letdown with the visit was that the roll the cod sandwich comes on is tasty, fresh, and has a great texture, but is not up to the task of helping the eater handle that cod. The roll was a bit too small and tender to really hold up to the superb crunch and size of the cod, which changed how you need to eat it half-way through.
Service is always top-notch midwestern class and the decor is comfortable and welcoming. You feel like you are part of the community and this is your hang-out every time you come in and sit down.

We had a good time at the Dark Horse! The staff, patrons, and atmosphere were friendly and engaging. The ATM is empty, but that wasn’t a problem as it was very affordable. My Swiss burger and battered fries were good. Of course we had to get a tshirt. They have them in every color and shade. They told our friend where he could park his 18 wheeler next time, so he’s adding the Dark Horse to his list of places he’ll stop on his route. Thanks!

We went into the bar. Small place. It took the bartender maybe 2 minutes to say how are you and what do you need to drink. He was busy. Got our drinks ordered food. Food was great. We will be back. Just acknowledge the customers when they are there. Did I say we will be back.
